yuvala 2,167
Chelsea are confident of signing both Diego Costa and Fillipe Luis from Atletico Madrid. (Telegraph)Is the Telegraph reliable ?
The only place to be 11,313
Is the Telegraph reliable ?The Telegraph is reserved as newspapers go. They don't tend to go crazy with the rumours although they will sometimes report rumours from other sources.Of course it varies from reporter to reporter - Ogden is good on United rumours for instance (broke the Moyes leaving story). The final is tomorrow so you'd expect any deal to move forward at the start of next week.
ChelseaFanUK 1,014
Is the Telegraph reliable ?Telegraph, and Guardian I tend to believe over others, but again it depends who is reporting. Ogden as mentioned is good for Utd news, as is David Mcdonnell of The Mirror. Neil Ashton of Daily Mail used to be good for Chelsea stories don't know about now. [he broke the smoke bomb incident, and cole shooting the work exprience lad before anyone]. So although certain papers get ridiculed for being rubbish, some reporters genuinely are pretty reliable
xPetrCechx 13,573
Chelsea are also seeking a left-back to replace the out-going Ashley Cole, with Alberto Moreno and Filipe Luis tracked. (Guardian) #CFC
The Chels 2,502
So we apparently want to bring Courtois back and will sign Costa soon, and now we want Filipe Luis and Koke as well? Hah what the hell there are other clubs to buy from apart from Atletico! Given that they seem to have really good players in every position perhaps it's the system/tactics making them look better than they actually are, which means they're far from guaranteed to be a success here if any of them do come (although that applies less to Courtois). Miki-Liki 405
He'd be a good solution to our left back position for 3 or 4 years. One of the few Brazilians who are actually good enough for a top club like Chelsea.

A lot of Brazilians are good enough to play for a top team like ourselves, hence why they do anyway. Real, us, PSG, Barcelona, City all have Brazilians, and they are obviously all top teams. And the players cost like hell just because they are Brazilians.Out of these players, I'd only like to see Silva play for us. And I hope that Willian and Oscar will contribute more next season. Sure they're the hometeam, but Fred is their first choice striker, really?

They may not have the best players but when it comes to being passionate about your country Brazil are right up there.

They may not have the best players but when it comes to being passionate about your country Brazil are right up there.most of the time, the only thing passion (without talent/competency) gets you is bookings, injuries and awful and costly decision making brought about by overwhelming emotion in the absence of intelligence and common sense. They are clearly not good enough and it will require luck of epic proportions for them to win it, home advantage or not.I can't remember a team that looks this average "on paper" winning the world cup. The previous winners have always had atleast 3 or more genuinely world class players in their team. Brazil has only Silva.
BlueLyon 9,359
Brazil are favourites because they have team and not individual superstars...France or England had plenty of top players, yet they won fuck all in last few years. Brazil is team put together working as unit and they can go far in their home country.

petre.ispirescu 4,928
Apparently the deal is about to be done.Marca saying that Chelsea came with a very good offer in the last hours - almost €24m (bonuses are included in this amount, so it's probabily €18-20 plus bonuses). They are saying Atletico will accept the offer. Also Filipe Luis "is delighted" with the offer as Chelsea will double his wages. Mourinho rates him as one of the best left-backs in the world. Conflicting as at Atleticos summit meeting Monday, they told Simeone he doesnt have to sell Diego Costa, finances are fine. Plus Luis has said he wants to stay

The only place to be 11,313
HIs reported wages are £22,000 p/w less than Shaw's reported wages.
dee25 1,044
16 million (pounds) isn't a bad fee for him, but he's been pretty underwhelming this season. I don't know how much he's making at Atleti, but if we're set to double that amount then we probably won't pay him anything less than 60-80k per week. If you add his wages on top of his transfer fee (along with the bonuses) that's a big financial hit to take on 29 year old especially since in another three years, we'll be needing to sign someone else for that position. Strikes me as the type of signing we used to make before we turned.....well prudent.
The only place to be 11,313
Rumours that Miranda is off to United too. That Atletico team is being decimated. As a short-term option then he fits what we need, a bit like the Tiago deal. Not expensive, immediate upgrade, fits the system and gives us a chance to develop some of the young guys.
