costa quote on a return to athletic Madrid

‘You never know,’ Costa told Spanish radio station Onda Cero. ‘Look at how well Filipe Luis is doing. Life is full of surprises. I always wish Atletico the best and always follow them and support them from afar.’

Yes Costa has not been good.

But i can't stop wondering what happened to the guy that first arrived here. He had such good movement, which coupled with Cesc's form resulted in alot of dangerous attacking play.

These days his movement has become borderline awful. And i can't shake the feeling he stopped trying because the people behind him ( Oscar, Hazard, Willian) don't ever seem to try and send a through ball to him early. All they do is 'dilly dallly' on the ball and pass the ball sideways.

We should try to be more direct i feel, instruct our midfielders to support Costa in making those runs (like Schurlle used to do) and send the balls early into them.

Hardly disagree. I think he has got enough service (don't really care by who, Fabregas, full-backs or those three), and is his fault he never converted it. I remember A LOT of Hazards great low crosses with no one to tap it in at the end.

tonight PSG took off Ibrahimovic when 0 0 at home put on de Maria and Cavani who scored in 85th min .. Luxury subs we no longer have

did not you get the memo. we should have a "small" squad. and who needs rotation when you can keep putting the same 11 every game regardless of the circumstances.

also to be fair to jose, none of lukaku, kdb, mata, bertrand and now RLC, kenedy and remy were ever "ready".

Amidst all this talk about supposed 'player power', Costa is the one that gives me cause for genuine concern on that front; didn't he say that part of the reason his punishment for the strop he threw against Spurs was so mild was because he's so popular with the other players that he's near-untouchable? Even if he wasn't being entirely serious when saying this, it annoyed me when he first came out with it, and does so all the more following today's developments.
