Motivation...

I have lots of exams coming up and I struggle to find any motivation to buckle down and revise and rather find my self on this forum! (not a bad trade off)

Still, as much as I love the forum priorities come first, any tips or advice on how to motivate myself and do well?

Thanks

Easy. Set a study schedule with breaks every 2-3 hours, but during those 2-3 hours, turn off your wifi, switch off your phone and unplug the TV. Give your self literally nothing to do except study and you should be fine.

Good luck :)

Fuck motivation. Do it my way.

Don't do anything till the evening before your exam, start panicking, work 5 hours and hope that you won't fail the next day.

Has worked out for me most of time so far.

I struggled with this too, if I had any advice to give you it would be stop coming on here for a few hours like I've done sometimes.

Or just do what Amels does which is what I did last year, revision for 5 or 6 hours the day before my exam and boom pass it :D

Or do it the way you want, revise for as long as you can, get plenty of studying done and then you should pass!

Why are you here posting this kind of disguisting message ? You need motivation to do something that must become natural to you in order to succeed in life, I wont use the "you have" and "you must".You are more than mature to understand that the best part of life is to succeed after painful & difficult days of work. You are capable of achieveing your goals without the help of us, you dont need motivation simply because the exam period is the toughest part of year which is a motivation itself and a challenge, to prove to yourself you can do this and that, but also because its the best part of the year were all your work will finally pay off, and when you'll succeed this year, you'll laugh at yourself and this post. You are master of yourself, if you are too lazy you must assume failure. If you need people to motivate you, you arent beliving in your capacities.

I'm absolutely not harsh with the man, everybody at some point need help, me included, and this year it was really difficult for me and I expect even more difficult next year, still, I think its the challenge of life.

Ok I have 2 degrees

- BsC Computer Science (1st)

- BA Hons Business Administration (2:1)

It was tough! But once you have them nobody can take them away!

Life is simple, you get what you give! I worked hard when I was younger - part time job cutting leeks in fields, cleaning toilets - but holding down both degrees... People laughed at me cleaning toilets...

Now 36 - have a brilliant GF, great house, great car, 2 race cars (Caterham/Elise) and tons of fishing gear (carp+match) - plus all the usual electrical goodies! (NOT bragging, worked hard, created my own luck and took it)

Now the people laughing at me cleaning toilets ain't laughing now! (Not being conceited, they just lacked vision)

Also important moral story 'be nice to the people on the way up, as you never know if you'll need them on the way down'....

Is life harder than exams - yup! And like @blue army said - you gotta work for YOU nobody else, but YOU!!!

If YOU choose to do fuck all preparation, you get nothing out! It really is that simple - sure you can hear stories of people fluking it, but for every 1 of them, I'll show you 500 who flunked badly!!!

The 7 P's - as used by the British Army (definitely one of the worlds best)

Prior

Planning and

Preparation

Prevent

Piss

Poor

Performance

So my advice - work hard, never stop working hard and you will get what you want...

Good analogy about the Lion and Gazelle - every day a Lion wakes up and in order to eat, it knows it has to outrun a gazelle, a gazelle wakes up and knows to survive it has to outrun a Lion... It doesn't matter which you are, but come sunrise - you best be running!!!!

Good luck - I trust YOU to do the right thing :)

First, put all your electronic distractions in a place you don't see!

Second, do a schedule in which you leave enough time to study and have fun. You cant overdo anything in your life and concentration is a skill you have to practice. If you try to concentrate for 5hrs without being used to it, forget it, the last four hours wont be productive. The 'Pomodoro Technique' is as useful as it seems stupid.

Third, motivation is something that must come internally. Strange people on the internet wont be able to motivate you. Do you need to pass those exams in order to pursue a dream of yours? Then fucking do it; it will be a hard, painful and long journey, but if you put your mind to it there is no one who can stop you from getting it.

All you have to do is focus and work hard, the rest will naturally come!!! :D
