I do indeed mate he deserve a place in the squad next season

He deserves his chance.

I feel the same about Chalobah and Happy and I'm afraid we wil lose tyhem if they dont get time.

Its so hard trying to kuggle young really good players with lads that are performing consistently well. And with some great lads on loan the big decision is complete top class players or good strong up and commers??

Hopefully we can get him a premier league loan next season to a team like a Bournemouth or Southampton because despite the fact he's come on leaps and bounds, to go from Vitesse straight to Chelsea is still a step too big I think... But he is probably the closest out of the group of u21s out on loan along with Bertrand and maybe Musonda.

To be honest all above decent players are too good for Eredivisie. But yeah, I'm definitely hoping that Conte is aware of this guy cause he's a serious talent and could easily be part of the first team already.

That's taking it too far. He's scoring goals, mostly from FKs, but he's not tearing up the league in any fashion. Also fails to take his team to a higher level like former Eredivisie stars did for their teams.

You want to see a player who's too good for the Eredivisie you should watch Ziyech in action. He's probably twice the player Baker is.

Sorry, that is not a valid reason to write anyone off. Especially when that person is 17. He's come leaps and bound this year and has clearly been one of our standout players if not the standout player this season in the NextGen Series.

Also how you think because Boga and RLC are technically better (which again is very arguable, Baker is excellent technically, especially his passing and shooting) that they stand a better chance of making it is quite laughable IMO. You only have to look at our own Kakuta to see that football isn't all about how good your technical skills are. Baker seems to have the mentality, leadership traits, more than decent technical attributes and physical attributes to make it as a top player if he keeps progressing the way he is at this very moment. Captain of his team & 14 goals in 29 games is no joke, especially from midfield.

He's the one that drives the team when they're down, he's done that time and time again in the NextGen tournament.

Always believed in you Lewis, you'll be a cracking player, either here or somewhere else.

In the transfer thread we have been speculating about who should be the partner to Kante for a while now. We mentioned Kessie, Bakayoko, Toliso, Nainggolan and so on.

I think Baker should receive some consideration though. Excellent passer, offers great shots from a distance, specialist in free kicks, natural central midfielder, two-footed and also from the academy. He has been perhaps the best player in Vitesse this season, and Vitesse has struggled quite a bit. Sure, its a poor league, but you can only do the best that you can from your opportunity.

My concern would be his athleticism, but last time I checked he was more dynamic than Fabregas. I don't know if Baker is the perfect call here, but I hope Conte at least takes some time during summer to seriously consider him. At the very least, I hope he gets loaned out to either a PL team, or another league that is better than the Dutch one.

I think another loan will be a failure for us. we need to play with him, he stayed at Holland this year because of his family and confirmation for first XI, and a player that take decision because of his family will not want to drag them each year to another place, and Before all else the main reason we need to play him is because he deserve it.

Gotta give the lad a mark for trying

Lewis Baker scores & gets sent off

It was a busy Sunday for Chelsea loanee Lewis Baker.

Playing with Vitesse for the season in the Eredivisie, Baker found the target to open the scoring before getting sent off later in the game.

Clinical left foot finish

Playing at home against FC Twente, Baker broke the deadlock with a left footed strike in the 13th minute.

The Chelsea midfielder was sent off in the 80th minute, however, when the referee reacted badly to a trip from behind in the middle of the pitch.

Vitesse won the match 3-1.
