Man City - Opposition Views

Who are you and how long have you supported Man City?

My name is Ric Turner, and I run the unofficial City site Bluemoon (bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk). I've supported City for 30 years.

What are the targets for Man City as a football club this season?

Our main target is to retain the Premiership title, and to progress to the knockout phase of the Champions League.

City have been very quite in the market this summer, what do you make of that?

It's strange that City are the only side in the Premiership who haven't bought a single player this summer. Obviously wholesale changes weren't required after we won the league, but there are areas in which we need to strengthen if we're to challenge on all fronts. Mancini himself is frustrated by the lack of activity, but it seems like the owner and chairman are taking FFPR seriously.

Who would they prefer in a light blue shirt - Daniel Agger or Robin van Persie?

Agger, because we need cover at centre half more than we need another forward.

Do you regret letting go of Sturridge?

We didn't let him go as such, he decided to leave. It was a shame, because he's obviously a talented footballer, but there were always rumours of an attitude problem. He wouldn't get in our team now, so there's no great remorse from the fans.

How far do you think City and Chelsea will go in the Champions League?

Quarter-finals.

Which Chelsea player do you think will be the biggest threat to you on Sunday?

Juan Mata is a good player. I can see why he's understudy to David Silva in the Spanish national team.

Do you think that Chelsea, with our new signings, pose a threat to Man City retaining their title?

Chelsea and United pose the biggest threat to City this season. You've bought well, and will be stronger than last year as a result.

If you take one Chelsea player to join City who would it be and why?

I was disappointed that you beat us to Eden Hazard. I think he would've fitted into our team well.

Against all odds, last season saw Chelsea FC crowned Champions of Europe, who were you supporting on the night of the final and why?

I wasn't too bothered either way, but was pleased to see Spurs lose their place in this season's Champions League.

What are your views of Chelsea and the fans?

There are a few of your players that I loathe (Terry and Cole), but I don't really mind Chelsea in general. You get a lot of the same abuse thrown at you as we do - namely that we've "bought" success, as if we're the only teams that have spent money in order to compete.

What do you think Chelsea can achieve this season?

I doubt you'll repeat the Champions League success of last season, but I think you're serious contenders for the Premiership.

And finally, can you give us a prediction for the game?

A 1-1 draw, with City winning on penalties.
I wonder if he's seen us play in pre-season

Almost every player already knows that they will pretty much be a certain starter so they couldn't give a fuck about the Pre-season any more.. I just feel sorry for the fans who forked out big bucks to go watch the boys play and get let down. They (the players) have to realize that these fans deserve a good show after forking out big bucks to see them in action. It has become all about flogging of there merchandise and gaining sponsors then putting on a show for the real fans..

Very sad indeed

Naaah, a lot of the fans very rarely get to see Chelsea, the real sell is just to watch Chelsea play live. I spent a lot and went to the New York match and I couldn't care less if we won, I just wanted to see Chelsea play and be with Chelsea fans and sing till I lost my voice. Sure it woulda been better if we won, but that didn't bother me, it is preseason after all.
