New striker needed - but who?

I've come around to the idea that we should loan a 3rd striker (If we can keep Sturridge). Torres, Sturridge & Lukaku would be fine and someone like Berbatov or Owen on pay as you play would do the job.

If we could get a cheap striker (on loan or permanently). Berba can definately do the job, though I doubt he will be willing to come over. remember he wants to leave Utd due to lack of playing time. and can Utd do business with us?

He is comfortable playing upfront or on the wing that's what we want imo and he is young.

If we are going to sign a new striker it has to be an out-and-out striker, not a player who's "comfortable playing upfront". We need someone whose qualities will be complementary to the skills of Torres and Sturridge, so he would have to offer us a good aerial game and strenght which we basically lack right now.

But that's the problem if we buy a striker what about Sturridge? andTorres? and will the new striker be willing to sit on the bench.

That's the problem: Finding a striker who meets the criteria.

Is Schürrle the answer? No, I don't think so. He's about to become a starter for Germany so he needs regular playing time. I doubt he'll want to be our 3rd choice striker and rot on the bench.

But the fact that he can play on the wing means he wont have to sit on the bench as much he can give us at option out wide and getting a "an out-and-out striker" wont gives us that and most likely sit on the bench.

We've already got Mata, Hazard, Marin, Ramires, Oscar, Moses, Malouda and Kakuta (plus even Sturridge if he has to) who can play on the wings. So do we really need another player for one of those 2 wings?! No. Whereas we just have 2 strikers, so we're just 1 injury and 1 suspension away from being left with no other real strikers.

If it's for the good of the team, then they should be willing or they can all fuck off for all I care. Even if Torres is now finally looking like he's starting to deliver, we are still very much light in that department when compared to our rivals and one injury can truly mess up our whole season. Teams with only one quality player per position never win a thing. Maybe the player himself will score buckets of goals and enjoy the personal glory, but if they care about what's best for the team, they will have to realize that sitting on the bench every now and again is all part of the game. For example, I don't see Rooney complaining about Van Persie's arrival to United even though it limits his own playing time and means he will have less goals to his name. In fact he was ecstatic to have such a quality player join his team. I don't know about you guys, but if Sturridge or anyone else for that matter is more interested in that personal glory and gets off on seeing his name on the scoresheet despite his team losing the game, then they can all leave the club in my opinion and we should get a player with a better attitude as replacement.

All that bullshit about Torres losing his confidence again if another quality player is bought to compete with him is pure nonsense. Maybe that worked out well for him at Liverpool on a personal level but like I said, a club like that never wins anything and we've clearly seen that over the years. If he can't handle the competition, then his place is simply not at a club aiming to compete for the title.

Malouda likely to leave,Kakuta likely to go out on loan,Marin might be injured alot if you think about his last 2 seasons and Ramires isn't a natural wide player.I dont like Ramires out wide much rather have him in CDM with Mikel for example although Meireles did very well there on Saturday.Chelsea have made bids for Schurrle so there is definite interest there,If Torres gets injured or suspended either Sturridge or Schurrle can play there or one can play out wide.Maybe we can use Piazon there? I know its not a natural position for him but he looked good there in pre - season. What striker do you think we should get?

Why would we spend that much money when we've already got a player like that: Sturridge. PLUS we've signed a RW: Moses.

No, we dont need a striker and I dont want us to buy one. Torres at least seems to get back on track, and I feel comfortable in giving Danny some responsibility and trust if Torres backfires. Plus what would happen with Danny if we bought a striker? Winger? Hardly... It would be a HUGE waste of talent there.

As Malouda and Kakuta are still with us I'm gonna include them in my plans. Surely we'll see Ramires playing as a CM or CDM this season but Robbie seems to love him on the right wing. Marin is injured but he still will want to get playing time when he's fit. Piazon is far from being ready for the first team so I wouldn't consider him an option this season.

I can't name you any names, sry. As I said before, a big body with a good header and a decent finishing ability would be perfect IMO.
