BlueSanti 290
Carlost Vela and Denilson maybe.Btw Spike, you souhldn't also joke about Czech people being drunk. Because it's no joke, we are drunk, all of us, most of the time.
capriccioso 2,545
Also, an honorary mention goes to Salomon Kalou. Thanks to cap for reminding about him.No, I don't think he belongs in this thread. He was a hot prospect but he was never touted as a future superstar who would lead his country to a World Cup win and his club to domination. He was more of an Arjen Robben than a Diego Maradona. This thread is for the Cherno Samba's and Freddy Adu's of the world, who were supposed to do that kind of thing.

You guys make some nice Absinth. Not as nice as French Absinthe (with an E) but it's pretty nice sensation lighting that stuff up and wolfing it down.Back on topic, I think Ronaldinho was a wasted talent because he was soooo good for such a shory period of time. Ronaldo's (Phenom) career was damaged by injuries.

This Samba kid or whoever, was a prospect at the age of 14.. I doubt he was considered the future WC winner and Johan Cruyff at that age. There are many young uns being hyped and destroyed that way. Kalou on the other hand was still a talent at the age of 19-22, which is a much bigger fall than some kid being called the next big thing after scoring insane amounts of goals in some kids' league and then failing to extend a contract with Millwall at age 17 or something. It's simple really. Nowhere is it said that this thread is about new Maradonas who never came to be. It says "players that wasted their talents" and imo this is what Kalou did.. or he had no talent in first place, which I doubt.

He was the real deal in Holland and everyone thought he was the next big thing. He hasn't improved at all since his days in the Eredivisie. That's my main gripe with Kalou, he hasn't evolved at all. capriccioso 2,545
To be honest, he was twice the player in Holland as he has been here. But all attackers look world class in Holland.

capriccioso 2,545
He's suited to being the big fish in a small pond. He was much poorer at Real Madrid and AC Milan. It's all fun and games smashing in 50 a season with teams like Schalke or Ajax, but essentially it's worthless if you can't do it at a proper big club.
