ChelsPrad2000 10
Its just the Boss. Emanelo and Gourlay do shit.Nope he is supervising only (in terms of outcome). Then why are Gourlay and Emenalo are holding seats? Not eat big Mc’s

capriccioso 2,545
Or is it Gourlay? Emenalo, he's the director of football, it's his job to liaise between Roman and the manager and make signings.Credit to Emenalo. There has been plenty of bitching about him last season. But he is proving his doubters wrong. Great work.100% agree.

But I thought well and read columns from blogs. Emenalo is the main man. For instance, AVB didn't fancy (or buy) KDB, but Emenalo bought him for ’long term plans’. I checked out last night. Origin: Twitter. Many people on twitter are now craving for fame (and they are getting it), by making up transfer rumours. Neither of the two managers we've had this season have sanctioned or asked for any of those transfers. I reckon even Mata and Romeu were signed by him, Villas-Boas would have asked for an attacking midfielder/winger and a defensive midfielder and Emenalo responded with the Spanish duo. That's how a Director of Football is supposed to work anyway, the manager lets them know what position they want strengthened and perhaps makes a recommendation but the final decision is down to the DoF. But I am not sure about Cahill, Mata and Romeu. But we have a unique role for the DoF, unlike United or Arsenal (Do they have one?), throughout the Roman era. Arnesen did a fantastic job before Emenalo, and the latter is gradually filling in his boots.

Villas-Boas almost never played him, from memory, it took him 6 weeks from when he signed to make his debut and his only game under Villas-Boas was the Napoli away game. capriccioso 2,545
My mistake, but 2 games in nearly 2 months still has him going down the Lukaku route for me, Villas-Boas didn't want him around.

Stuck to his mistakes, even when he was seeing the things aren't working for him.

Stick him in politics or war and he'll be out before you can say "Leon Trotsky".Well I didn't mean he isn't talented. He was definitely. But he made some pretty much naive decisions. Like pushing Ivanovic higher than the line of the other 3 defenders, when deploying him at RB. He made that mistake against Leverkusen away. And then did again against Napoli away. Manage the players poorly and perhaps trying to be too much of a dictator for fear that the players won't respect him vecause of his age. Implementing tactics on players who don't suit his playing style and when it's not working and results are not coming, he refused to change it. Made the players looked very poor and a shadow of themselves because overcomplication of tactics. Then you also have him constantly talking about the future and that so called '3-year plan' thingy rather than focussing on the current time.
