Chelsea are ready to open talks this week with powerful German striker Andre Schurrle abut a £20million switch to Stamford Bridge.

Representatives of Schurrle's camp were at the FA Cup semi-final with Manchester City at Wembley yesterday and will discuss personal terms shortly.

Being reported that Schürrle's representatives were at Wembley today and will begin contract negotiations in the coming days. Looks like this deal is really happening, just hope De Bruyne won't be involved in any way.

Nope, more of a left wide player who comes/cuts/drifts inside from wide position.

Is he a RWinger ?

For 20 million, Fuck no!. Honestly nothing special at all. Would prefer what we already have.

I agree with you on the price, 20 million seems a bit much at first. However, Schürrle is a really good player who's very different to what we already have and he would provide depth both on the wings and up front. I consider those positions along with the midfield to be the areas where our team is clearly lacking both in depth and quality at the moment so getting a player like Schürrle would be killing two birds with one stone. Two proper strikers (out of Ba / Lukaku / Torres / someone new) as well as Schürrle would be considered great depth and for the positions behind the front man there would be Hazard, Mata, Oscar, De Bruyne, Schürrle and Moses, once again more than enough depth and quality to compete on multiple fronts. With that bunch of players, things would work out even if the new manager decided to mix things up little and deploy a 4-3-3 or something, as KdB and Oscar could easily play CM in a three man midfield.

That list may seem like too much players when you first think about it but effectively it's only two more to what we currently have and we have been in desperate need of more players this season, it's ridiculous how players like Benayoun get played week-in, week-out whenever Mata or Hazard need rest. With a couple more quality options up there, everyone would be better off. This season the lack of options on the bench turned out to be one of the main reasons for our downfall, simply put it there is no one capable of turning things around if Mata and the boys are having and off day.

All in all, considering his quality and versatility, Schürrle wouldn't really be that expensive, now would he? Hell, we paid £18m combined for Moses and Marin and what did we get in return? Absolutely fuck all.

"Schürrle update. Chelsea have now submitted a second, improved offer (€22m + bonus) in case De Bruyne opts out. Ball in Leverkusen's court"

That was Raphael Honigstein (@honigstein) on Twitter

edit: He also added this - "it's "take it or leave it" - no more negotiations"

Tell me he can honestly play on the flanks without compromising our defensive system (remember that Hazard and Mata arent exactly work horses) that I accept him here...
