iseah100 5,612
Sad to see him go... But 50m really is an offer we couldn't refuse. Plus I would much MUCH rather see him in a PSG shirt than Barcelona's.It begs the question though, if they paid 50m for Luiz, I wonder how much their offer for Hazard will be??PSG >>>>>>>BAYERN AND BARCA. I bet he didn't want to wear those shirts either haha. £130 for Hazard!
Chelsea Legend 11 4,062
sorry, Alex. That's nonsense... Are you saying Luiz is more often than not useless as a defender? Not worth even 15m? mate, that was bushman level, sorry to disagree massively. Also, no doubts PSG will have one of the best, if not the very best defensive partnership in the world if they don't sell Silva. Luiz and Silva is a match made in heaven for defending, they compliment each other very well.***Brazilian ALERT*** Come on now... Lets not get carried away here. David Luiz has mental lapses at least 3-4 times a game and hasn't improved in 3yrs at the club. Best partnership in the world?? You have got to be out of your mind! David Luiz is a defensive liability. I'm sure he will make a brilliant defender in Ligue Un, but he's not cut out to do it in the Premier League. He can't be that bad because the teams that wanted to buy him besides PSG where Bayern and Barca. Some of the best teams in Europe. Which amazes me. It really does. He has all the technical ability in the world, but Gary Neville as absolutely right, in my humble opinion, to say it's like he's being controlled by a kid on his Playstation. He's a brainfart of a defender. I like him a lot in midfield, but Mourinho obviously wants someone who is a little more positionally disciplined. Just my personal opinion. I prefer "safe" or "typical English defenders" like Terry and Cahill. Nowhere near the same technical level - though both are very talented with the ball - but more sound defensively. Brazil have the best back four in the world. T. Silva and Luiz are outstanding together so it isn't really an outrageous thing to say. bushman 2,043
Of course, this sideshow clown has done nothing special during his stay with Chelsea. Occasionally, he had a good game, but over all a liability on defense, a pretender in the midfield. If someone thinks he is to be much better just because he will play in partnership with Silva, I would like to see it.

Attacking wise maybe defensively.... give me a break! He does have a lot of lapses they don't always lead to scoring chances. His best performances came in the midfield, not in CB. Popular Post! The Mak 4,459 Posted May 24, 2014 Popular Post! Share Posted May 24, 2014 I disagree with this, because Luiz was showing that consistency in the second half of last season (something a lot of people seem to overlook), and also carried on this form into the Confederations Cup for Brazil. He was just very unfortunate when he came back - injured, no real rest over the summer and no pre season whatsoever... That set him back a bit this season because he was well on his way to really establishing himself as a top CB this season. And when I previously spoke about this, I repeatedly said that Rafa 'making Luiz a better defender' was a myth. If people paid enough attention to his form, Luiz ALWAYS had good form at the end of a season and he ALWAYS started seasons terribly. In that way, yes, he was consistent at being inconsistent. It's like he always needed a number months to adapt to the PL all over again. But every team, not just us, needs a defender who is good for the entire season, not half of it. It's not that he isn't suited to the PL, it really just depends in what system he plays, as with any player. For example, I think he would've been great at Man City, especially next to Kompany, or maybe even Liverpool or Arsenal. He just isn't as useful in the system that Mourinho implemented. But that happens - same way how JT was barely used by Benitez last year and looked pretty much done as a top CB... It doesn't mean that he suddenly lost it all - just that it took a different system to bring out his strengths again and that's why he's been magnificent in general this time around.Yes, if by 'system' you mean teams that are attacking 'top heavy', play attractive football and win next to nothing? All of those teams are heavily reliant on blowing teams away with their attacking prowess or possession based football. However, their defending always leaves something to be desired - their unbalance is what stops them from challenging on all fronts and that is why these sorts or teams will rarely dominate in the PL.- City's defence aren't reliable and can't defend without Kompany - they are the exception rather than the rule, they can get away with it because of the amount of quality strikers they can 'afford' (by breaking FFP). However, they can't even buy a spot in the late stages of the CL and won the PL because we and Liverpool threw it away. Hardly convincing.- Arsenal are too reliant on possession football, leave too much space in behind, get slaughtered on the counter-attack and won 1 trophy in 9 years.- Liverpool play great football, but simply can't defend for their lives.Yes, Luiz would probably look fantastic in these teams, but he'd win very little. However, he'll win a lot with the likes of PSG, Munich, Barca domestically because their leagues are so terrible, but when it comes to Europe, these very exploitable weaknesses would still exist.Mourinho is trying to build a team with no such weaknesses, and he's starting by getting a reliable defence.
