I agree with you about him saying we are playing better football. We're not. What I was saying is that Mourinho's system worked, and there was no real need to change it, especially in the middle of the season. If he does stick around, I'll guess we'll see what the summer brings.

Agreed.

I think if Grant stays this summer, the real test of his mettle as a coach is not winning the CL this season but trying to win it next season and winning the league with a team he has picked, to change training to something akin to his own methods, bring new players in, meld them with the old ones, may be even new backroom staff if Clarke goes etc.

In truth despite all the brickbats and abuse hurled his way, Grant has actually not been tested yet on his own merits of coaching only on those he inherited from his predecessor.

On that basis you could say he is a very good caretaker manager, taking over and letting things trundle along with little active wish to upset the apple cart.

It fits his persona you see perfectly on screen.

The annoyance for me is that he often pretends he has been something more than that this year in terms of the dynamics of our results, how we play, how the players utilise their skills etc.

He can talk all he likes but it's just that this season at least - talk.

Yes exactly. Perfect post.

Spot on. I think you hit the nail on the head, he does seem like a very good caretaker manager than anything else.

ok now that the season is over i have come to the conclusion that...

avram grant must go, he has tried bless him but sadly he isnt the man for the job

it was jose's team lets be honest, he played the same system, but his tactically decisions and substitutions during games were awful

ANELKA CAN NOT AND WILL NOT PLAY FROM THE RIGHT!!!!!!

ESSIEN IS WASTED AT RIGHT BACK!!!!!!

MALOUDA IS SHOCKINGLY AWFUL!!!!!!

rijkaard is my choice personally, barcelona played good attractive football, and thats what i want back at the bridge 'sexy football' as gullit put it, personally this target man 1 up top long ball shit doesnt do it for me

Chelsea are a stylish sexy attractive club and thats what us fans deserve

we need players like kaka, messi, van der vaart, eto'o

Ciao, go back to Israel and I hope I will never see again of my life your face ! You are a big, big failure !

First You call Terry an Idiot then Slag Avram for something he couldnt do much about. Dorgba gets himself sent off, Terry slips and hits the ball wide. What the fuck do you want him to do...to please you..? Give you a lap dance or something?

I don't think the aftermath of last nights game is the right time to dig at Grant, you can't fault him at all for last night....

However, i want this situation resovled sooner rather than later, we need to know immediately if he is staying or going, this has gone on long enough now..

dunno how most on here look at reports from posters saying their source in the club informed..

one of my mates on another forum said he read a poster claiming to have an inside source that rijkaard will be incharge by EURO kickoff..

now all of you may know i'm not the biggest fans of rijkaard.. so it doesnt change anything for me.. but its something nice for the gossip lovers

Grant is completely faultless for last night, but I am certain he will leave. In fairnes, the bloke has done very well. He could have made a name for himself in Chelsea folklore. Shame. Never was the right man for the job though, but he has 100% of my respect.

I don't agree Blue Lion, I think that as soon as Drogba got the red, Sheva should have been brought on for what would have been his Chelsea swan song. I know Belletti scored a pen, But Sheva could have possibly pulled it out of the bag. But after all is said and done, its not last nights decisions that he should go for, its everything. He was playing Jose's team and a trained monkey could have got us where he got us. I firmly believe it was the boys and Clarkey who so nearly won the league and cup for us, not Grant. Also he has all the personality of a frog having a shit.
