Heard about him getting £1.7 million by the time he's 20 before even before playing for the first team. We must really think highly of this guy. I hope these sums of money don't ruin his career. I want to see him fulfil this potential.

I had a chat with him before start of the season. He said that he at Chelsea since 7 and he hopes to be a first team player one day. And hope stay at Chelsea for as long as he can and he believe in he own ability to stay there. When communicating he seemed very purposeful guy and very intelligent.

Did you watch much of Matic before he signed for us? Loftus-Cheek is 17, Matic was 21 when we signed him.

Well Ruben is younger, so hopefully he'll have time to develop more. And tbf, Matic didn't too bad for Benfica.

I liked Matic too. While he'd not ripping things up he's pretty quietly doing well at Benfica this season, and I do wish we had given him a chance, at the least, with us, as he never actually got that, just came in, played reserves, loaned to Vitesse and sold. Wouldn't swap him for Luiz as well of course, but he was a smart midfielder.

There were also problems with squad places TBF I think. First half of 11/12 season we had the full 17 over 21 non homegrown players.
