Exactly. There are anomalies to that rule, of course, but mostly they're all as you described. There's no point in making deadline day signings like this when you can wait till June. That's the problem with this club's pursuit sometimes, for example, we left the £40m Modric bid till deadline day and didn't give enough time for Tottenham to think rationally.

I'm sure someone will come in before the window closes but it's really annoying thinking who it may be. I might just not watch any more news until wednesday and then find out what happened. Speculation is too boring. Maybe we'll get Pato & Neymar, maybe we'll get Tommy Smith & Luke Moore, who knows? I do think someone will come though.

KDB will probably be the only signing.

I'm devastated tbh I really thought we'd get an attacking midfielder/winger in this transfer window. Our midfield is dreadful and most of the blame re: lack of creativity falls on them. And with Ramires now facing a month out..... our energy is gone.

As much as most people would love the excitement and all the stuff, i would rather we sign De Bruyne, if we are, and someone else sooner then we did with Raul and the previous window. I would love to see two more people coming in the club, or with someone like Kalou going out, but i can't really see it happening. The kind of player we need, and the pkayers that actually does hit the mold are out of bound in this window with price and cup-tied being the main features.

A deadline signing wouldn't be something i would want, rather have the business done sooner then later - but we do need someone creative to add something to this lacklustre bunch at the moment, like Mata did/has when he first joined. Maybe it could be De Bruyne, or even someone from the reserves like Lalkovic, but that is one clear position that we are needing at the moment, which i do think either by the end of this window or in the next window, AvB will sort out.

Even though I believe we should buy a new player in order to not put our season in jeopardy, I think it is wise from the club to not buy anyone if their targets aren't available in this window, or if they would have to pay way over the odds to get them. To not go after a panic signing would stress a change of mentality within the board.
