we didn’t actually lose the game we drew and all of a sudden everyone is [saying] ‘what’s happening here?’ and this and that.

I don't understand what's wrong with him saying that. Lot of people implode over the simplest reasons.

You don't? Very poor choice of words by Gary. It was 2-2, but you went out. That's the same as losing. Against a 10 men PSG side. At home. Playing very poorly.

It doesn't help that Cahill has been one of the weaker performers of the season either.

Yes we did go out, but we didn't suffer a heavy defeat. PSG weren't scoring left , right and center. The club has always had high standards, but questioning the season after a draw that only happened due to two poor set-pieces hardly calls for serious criticism for the whole season.

Who is questioning the whole season?

Chelsea have Courtois and some wayward finishing by PSG to thank for not conceding more goals. And I've read that 'losing to two poor set-pieces' before. You do realise the goals scored by Chelsea in both legs were due to 'two poor set-pieces' and a penalty?

That's what Gary was addressing when the journalist asked him.

Who said we were winning it pretty too? The whole two games consisted of two teams performing well below their standards, apart from being defensively brilliant in open-play . I don't see the logic of talking about the first leg when Gary was specifically addressing those people who were saying something was really wrong with the team and had to improve starting from Hull City after they drew 2-2 and 1-1 consecutively.

Cahill has questioned the criticism received by the London club after their costly 2-2 draw with PSG however, and urged Chelsea to return to winning ways, starting with the trip to Hull on Sunday.

I don't see anything in there about anyone questioning the whole season. It's about the criticism after the PSG game.

People commented on Gary's words concerning the draw. You said you didn't see anything wrong with his words and questioned why others would think the opposite. I explain why. Though I can only speak for myself.

'We've gone out but we didn't actually lose the game'. Not a smart choice of words imo. It sounds weak. And he should realise, the criticism is also and mostly about the performance. You can't just focus on the score that says 2-2.

Aha this is where the subject of the situation is important, I'll try finding the vid off twitter. edit : couldn't find the video, I'll retract that argument.

it doesn't sound weak to me at all. It's justification for a team that didn't suffer a loss and drew to the poor circumstances they did. I do not think Chelsea's performance alone warranted a 2-2 draw. It was very poor indeed, but still very much doable once we went 1-0 up. People are criticizing, that doesn't mean they should sit-back and not say anything. They are given the platform to voice their opinions and it's open to be viewed as people want to the same way he has his own freedom of viewing the kind off flak the team is receiving after a poorly conceded draw. Mind you the criticism wasn't just about the performance, considering what the pundits were talking about in England.

No thanks to Pique, there are younger and better defenders in the market.

pique had a great classico yesterday, so its not a surprise that suddenly he will become the best CB in the world and the "player we should have bought".

as for GC, should not be starting if zouma is fit.
