cfc-meleady 192
In an effort to stop drug tourism, the Dutch government on Friday decided to restrict access to cannabis coffee shops so that tourists will no longer be able to buy the drugs.http://wireupdate.co...ps-to-tourists/

Term-X 7,891
The government's plans for a tourist ban, whereby only holders of a resident's pass would be allowed to buy hash, has not yet been formally put into law and no timeframe has been proposed.http://www.dutchdail...offee-shop-ban/This will reduce tourist revenue. It will Hurt the coffee shop businesses. Increase illegal activity. Put a strain on the court system, jails and tax payers when arrests increase.Awful illogical decision, they've killed a cash cow. Term-X 7,891
These posts get hyped up quickly. Fact of the matter is, they have been trying to implement this for almost a decade and I doubt it will ever happen. This is a twisted version of what actually was decided. Yes they want cities to implement the resident only wietpass but as mentioned in another topic this will be decided on a city by city basis. Everyone calm down. If the wave starts in the south and starts gaining momentum then I'll start getting concerned. But even then there's More money for The City of Amsterdam with tourists allowed to purchase small amounts of cannabis than the alternative so I just can't fathom it happening. What you have are misinterpretations of the ideas of right wing xenophobes who are grasping at straws...^ This is coming from an amsterdam resident, so clearly there's still hope. chrismada9 1,948
That's a very bad decision from the Dutch government! I'd be suprisied if Amsterdam still gets as many tourists over there by 2012. It's all about smoking weed over there!
