  3. Congrats Chris and Kez!! I received my scores for the last test for my teaching license and I scored a 183/200 on the science content knowledge exam which is alright considering I needed a 145 to pass. My score is complete rubbish tho for two reasons: 1) I only took part 1 because the state made (I took the 2 part test and scored a 193/200 and was in the top 5% of all test takers in the last 3 years!, but the state doesn't accept the 2 part test, just part 1) and 2) I didn't study at all because I took the test the day before we boarded the plane for Shanghai and we were busy all week long with dinners and goodbye visits (the night before we had a dinner with my husband's boss)
  4. I pray that they find him soon and that he is okay. I can't imagine not knowing where a loved one is or what happened to them.

  10. I broke my hand in PE class... how's that for getting out of exercising! LOL
  11. thank goodness I have a few years before I will need to add Nathan to my insurance! He won't learn to drive until we are back in the states in 2014 or so!!
  12. That's good news I hope his condition continues to improve and with good friends like you around him, he will recover. Hang in there!! ((Hugs)) I am sleepy today, it was a rainy day and I really just wanted to curl up in a big chair with a good book! Unfortunately, I have to go to a business dinner with my husband! Joy!
  13. Bluelion Nice car but I am still reeling at the cost of your insurance!! Most of what I have purchased lately hasn't really been by me because we are expats we have some say in what we have but the company has the ultimate yes or no. **We are renting a lane house in Shanghai (only one neighbor is an expat!) it is an old style lane house but has been renovated to appeal to westerners (I'll post pictures soon) **We will be getting a new car because the Honda Oddessy that we are in doesn't have enough leg room for my son in the back and our driver prefers that we all sit in the back (no distractions while he is driving) and bookshelves from IKEA... we really need them!! I can't wait until our books arrive from the US!!
  14. So excited for the start of the season and saying my prayers that it is broadcast here or on Chelsea TV at a decent hour!!
  15. Sorry about your friend, try to hang in there and know we are here when you need us! ((HUGS))
  16. Thanks I am not sure I could do Chinese with out a tutor! The sounds are so different from those that I am used to making. It's very sing song in a way... until they start talking fast and then I am lost!! Dutch? On your own? WOW!! :blue scalf:
  17. Thanks! Thankfully I get to leave the driving up to someone else and he is very good at his job! I won't say I am never startled or scared but he always seems to be aware of it all that is going on around us and we stay safe! It is weird to always sit in the back seat and to know that I won't be driving for three years!! I am sure I will get used to it because I have no desire to stress myself out completely by driving here!! I am amazed by the lack of accidents here, but then again with the laws the way they are and the stiff penalties... I guess I am not. But they push the limit to the very edge. The problem in the US is that no one learned to drive in the same area they live so you have a mix of driving styles (most that are awful) all in one place!! And no one seems to understand that the other people don't understand their "driving style" LOL
  18. a wireless printer that works in China
  19. My tutor telling me that I am doing well in my Mandarin lessons and an email from a good friend!!
  20. oh heck where to begin! You realize where I live right?? I'll start with drivers and their in ability to think of anyone else!! I watch them stop traffic so a guy could pull out of his housing complex and prevent an AMBULANCE from getting thru! There is no right away given to emergency vehicles here!! God for bid I ever have to be taken to the hospital for an emergency, I will put myself in the hands of our driver before I go in an ambulance!
  21. When we lived in the US: summers we would go to Michigan (to escape the summer heat in TN) or to Vermont or New York; In the winter I need some sunshine and we would either do a cruise to the Caribbean or go to Florida (Orlando, Vero Beach, Cocoa Beach (my sister lives here) I have been to Belgium (twice), London, Edinburg, and Krakow and loved them each for their different cultures and histories (such long rich histories which in the US we don't have) Currently we live in Shanghai, China and our current holiday plans are Cambodia, Thailand, Bali, Melbourne (I may get to me Steve if I'm lucky!), and New Zealand (If anyone from this hemisphere has suggestions I am open to ideas!!) Next summer MacKenzie and I are supposed to meet her US football team in Germany to stay with the German team that we hosted this year!! I hope it works out!
