The battle for the signature of Porto playmaker Joao Moutinho is set to be reignited this summer as Tottenham are likely to face competition from London rivals Chelsea, who are also reportedly keen on signing the player. Moutinho was on the cusp of a move to North London last summer, but Spurs were unable to get the paperwork done in time on deadline day. Tottenham are still keen on the player with Manager Andre Villas-Boas keen to be reunited with the man who used the run the show for him in the middle of the park when at Porto. Moutinho will be priced at £20 million, this summer, and Porto’s owner Pinta da Costa declared in an interview with Portuguese daily A Bola that he would be powerless to stop the player from leaving this season. Da Costa said, “It is hard to resist. We know that there are clubs with millionaires who have no limitations [in terms of] money, [such] as Chelsea and PSG.” Da Costa’s mention of Chelsea has set tongues wagging that Jose Mourinho wants Moutinho at the club when he arrives in the summer, and as past experience has shown, what Mourinho wants, Mourinho gets.
