  7. LATEST: Werder Bremen are still keen on signing Claudio Pizarro from Chelsea on a permanent deal following the Peru striker's successful loan spell at the German club last season. 8. Chelsea Interested In Sampdoria Striker Pazzini. A source indicates the Pensioners want to bring the ex-Viola to Stamford Bridge. According to French website les-transferts.com, Chelsea have identified Sampdoria hitman Giampaolo Pazzini as a transfer target. The Italian has been on fire since joining the Blucerchiati from Fiorentina last January, hitting 15 goals in 22 appearances in all competitions and forging an excellent partnership with Antonio Cassano. The Blues are reportedly willing to pay €18 million for his signature and the move would allow them to offload seldom-used striker Andriy Shevchenko, whose salary demands take up a significant amount of space on the club's wage bill. Chelsea coach Carlo Ancelotti reportedly has been an admirer of the former Atalanta striker, who scored against the tactician's Milan outfit last season. Pazzini also earned his first cap for the Italian national team last year, but has not been included in Marcello Lippi's most recent string of call-ups.

  19. Chelsea Turn To Lazio's Cristian Ledesma As Andrea Pirlo Alternative -The Blues already have a replacement target lined-up, but face competition for the Argentine's signature After Chelsea were rebuffed by Milan in their efforts to sign Andrea Pirlo, Carlo Ancelotti is continuing to look towards Serie A for a deep lying midfielder. According to Il Corriere dello Sport, the former Milan coach has turned his sights towards Lazio want-away Cristian Ledesma. The 26-year-old has been left out of the Biancocelesti's Supercoppa Italiana squad and is eager to move on from the club. While Claudio Lotito will not prevent his departure, the Lazio president will insist that any club interested in the Argentine's services will have to meet his valuation of the player, reported to be in the region of €15 million. So far, it is the price-tag that has dissuaded interested parties from making a concrete bid, with Milan, Fiorentina and Palermo all dithering over an offer. For Chelsea, the most serious competition for Ledesma's signature will come from Fiorentina. The Viola lost Felipe Melo to Juventus earlier this summer and have since been searching for a defensive midfielder to replace him. While Milan and Palermo are also keeping an eye on the situation, their interest would only have been piqued if they had sold Andrea Pirlo or Fabio Liverani respectively
  20. Chelsea To Lodge Bid Of £38m Plus Deco For Atletico Madrid's Sergio Aguero - Report The Argentinean is in-demand... 5 Aug 2009 10:56:20 Atletico Madrid star Sergio Aguero celebrating his goal that opened the scoring against Marseille, a match the Rojiblancos went on to win 2-1.<H4 id=article_related_links_heading> </H4>Atletico Madrid may face a laborious battle in keeping star asset Sergio Aguero at Vicente Calderon as a bid for the player from Chelsea edges closer to the Spanish club's £50 million valuation. The Stamford Bridge side, under the new management of Carlo Ancelotti, are readying an offer of £38m plus a player - Deco. It is believed the inclusion of the Portuguese playmaker is to compensate for the £12m difference. Aguero, affectionately nicknamed 'El Kun' due to his likeness to a Japanese cartoon character - Kum Kum - is just one prong of a trident being targeted by Chelsea for summer recruitment. The club have been relatively inactive in the market thus far, having signed Ross Turnbull, Daniel Sturridge and Yuri Zhirkov; yet Aguero, along with Bayern Munich attacker Franck Ribery and AC Milan midfielder Andrea Pirlo, have also been sounded out for potential switches. Prior to captain John Terry's decision to declare his desire to remain at Stamford Bridge, he requested assurances that the club's ambitions matched his own, to which owner Roman Abramovich implied that Chelsea had been operating in the market, only for their estimations of the players to fall just short of the selling club's valuation. A £100m budget is reportedly the amount that Ancelotti has to play with. The Blues will face competition for Aguero should negotiations for the highly-rated forward reach an advanced stage, as Manchester United are also keen. Deco will favour a return to Spain, where he helped sustain the name he made for himself at FC Porto with Catalan outfit Barcelona, as he has struggled to establish himself in Chelsea's line-up.
