heard a rumor he may be loaned out for a month or so to regain his fitness before playing first team football at Chelsea
-
i read the full article and nowhere is there a quote that says sheva has given up on first team football, so maybe we should give him a chance to perform. i actually feel that he will continue to fight for a spot and should be given a chance to prove his worth.

not that these are the best sources, but NOTW and goal.com are saying Chelsea is offering a buy and loan deal to milan sources: http://www.goal.com/en/news/9/england/2009/08/09/1429987/Chelsea-launch-mega-buy-loan-move-for-milan-star-pato-report http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/sport/443857/Chelseas-pound45m-for-Alexandre-Pato-Blues-loan-star-back-to-AC-Milan.html

according to goal.com, essien has been included in a deal for pirlo...this had better only be a rumor source: http://goal.com/en/news/11/transfer-zone/2009/08/06/1426405/galliani-slams-chelseas-persistence-following-addition-of-essien-

how long is the loan for? season long?
-
agree
-
let's try not to use the word "slip" when describing anything regarding the CL, thanks
-
sheva...losing pizarro and kalou
-
di santo was strong on the ball there to in getting around the defender and finding malouda...great couple minutes here
-
must have all been headers, no way he used his fat feet
-
NNNOOOOOOOOO, well there goes whatever offensive flow we may get, please twist an ankle pizarro
-
sheva, di santo, and turn that i've seen
-
anyone know the available subs? like to see di santo get a full 45. Carlo, please no Pizarro!!
-
yes, even if we lose in PKs
-
nice save by hilario, even though a foul was committed

maybe i am a little over confident (and maybe disregarding club america some), but i don't understand how this could be the biggest challenge thus far? sure, they beat inter and ac milan, but do you really feel both of those teams were taking the respective matches seriously, or at least as seriously as the matches against Chelsea? i feel the club america matches were taken as warm ups essentially to practice tactics...just my opinion. that being said, because of the depth of Chelsea (and since there's a new coach), i feel players will be out to prove their worth (see malouda, deco, sheva, etc.) and should play as if first team football (and essentially a place on the Chelsea side) are in jeopardy. i still see Chelsea in a rout.
-
turnbill bosingwa---terry---alex---cole mikel essien---zhirkov lamps drogba---anelka subs: ivanovic, sheva, mancienne i could see Chelsea putting 4 up today. Maybe anelka getting a brace early and hopefully sheva gets his goal today.

Anybody want to give their player ratings for the match?
-
He may be holding talks soon with Wolfsburg in order to discuss options for him to leave. There is no source listed but here's the link: Jul 22 http://blogs.soccernet.com/onthemove/ I would like to see him come before Huntelaar or any of the other options besides Pato or Kun.
-
Financially (i.e. shirt/ticket sales) it's a decent move, but I am just not convinced that he has the speed/quickness to compete competitively in the EPL (but maybe in Series A).
-
i believe he still has quality left, especially if given a minor role (i.e. only the occasional start to give some of the drogba, anelka, etc. some rest). anelka, drogba, sheva, sturridge, kalou, di santo (i have removed pizarro as he must be sold, loaned, beaten, etc.) shouldn't be to many strikers to rotate a bit. i could definitely see di santo going on loan again though. that being said, if Chelsea brings in another striker, i see sheva being sent off somewhere at a discounted price. he would eat up the french league if given the chance.

Deco enjoys new Chelsea midfield role
jason640640 replied to the wes's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
he played extremely well in the role against a pretty good MLS team, but with cole, lampard, ballack, essien, mikel, zhirkov, malouda, i'm curious as to how the midfield will work itself out this year. Chelsea v inter should be an entertaining midfield battle, among all the other story lines concerning the game. -
nice about the locks, maybe he will blind some defenders with his stunning new look. i actually felt sheva played fairly well; however, some of the flow that was created was eventually stalled by pizarro, i just couldn't believe how much he lost the ball. as others have noted, disanto and sturridge played very well and deserve to see more first time action.

both teams were a little aggressive for a preseason tourney, but the ref was a little too quick with the cards, both yellow and red. i just dont understand how inter were able to even get barca to consider the deal though...is barca just panicking after seeing madrid going on a spending spree that they felt they had to match with at least one "key" signing?
