Jamie Redknapp has written a decent piece for him in todays Daily Fail.

Said all along Rooney, he offers us more than one thing, he can play a lone front man and also drop into the number ten role if mata is struggling or injured. It's a long season, a squad game and he makes more sense, and at 27 has a lot to give IMO.

Problem with Torres, Lukaku and Ba starting the season is there isn't one who could be brandished prolific. Our rivals of city and united have people like RvP and say Dzeko/Aguero, you can't say the same about us.

they don't need a replacement, they need signings to one bolster their cenrtral midfiled and a possible left back. They have RvP, Hernandez and Welbeck up top without Rooney.....replacing Rooney is a myth, he spent a lot of last season trying to make up for areas they lack in......midfield.

Their too fucking busy scratching around offering 25m plus a packet of quavers for Fabregas, they are a mess right now and Moyes already has a massive task on his hands.
