I know what you are saying but Drogba has been here and done it, Rooney hasn't so that's where the comparison stops IMO. Drogba was immense, truly that good. I even remember speaking with Jonathan Woodgate once and he said to me "I'd cry off injured rather than face Drogba" that is some statement that. Rooney is just a different type of player in terms of feathers to his bow....versatility is one that sticks out and whilst he maybe isn't world class and that is a debate for another day, he is England's golden boy which is a poor plight on English football. I am not for one minute saying Rooney is shite, he isn't, he's top notch, but top notch in amongst a lot of average players for England. We have to look at what we at Chelsea are, and can offer. We now have a manager in place we have craved back for years and one who shouldn't of gone. We have a basis of young, talented and exciting young talent that is being immediately promoted through to the first team...NOW!!!. I think because Rooney has been around so long people forget he's only 27, that really isn't over the hill, it's a great age, not only to be tuned in football wise but also to learn, and learn from a master, which is why it makes sense. Wayne Rooney is a clever footballer, brilliant in fact.....I personally don't like the blokes demeanour but what i love is his willing and desire on a football pitch. He's like JT in many ways, he will role his sleeves up, battle until the final whistle goes and rally any slackers in the team. There is so many positives that outweigh the negatives in this transfer that people just need to trust the board and Jose on this one. KTBFFH Rooney or not.
