I've said before it was a success, that was before the CL loss to Atletico and before we were out of the league. Looking at things now I do not change my mind. Still think going into the season with Torres, Eto'o and Ba was like giving someone a PC without a keyboard.

He's done a job, can't fault him for that. Scored some really important goals and put himself about more than someone else I could mention. His closing down of goalkeepers alone is an example to any striker around to never give up. If he goes, thank you Samu, if not, he will give us something.

I have merged this into the success/failure thread. It all sits into the same thing.

If things pan out like I would want he won't have much of place here. JT and Cahill can continue next season with possibly Zouma coming back, so that rules him out as a CB. He can't play midfield contrary to popular belief so for me there is not a need for him at Chelsea. We need to sign someone for next to Matic, if we do, he is either being benched or goes.

It would be a tragedy not signing the right midfielder to play alongside this lad. Almost as bad as not signing a striker.
