I think it's dead simple with Costa, he is purely a fox in the box because outside of it he's like a Hedgehog on a motorway. The best players with small deficiencies cover their weakness by being a little bit more dynamic, Costa cannot be dynamic because for me he has one string to his bow, that's been in the area and that's his only threat, he's not even good in the air so even that lets him down in the box.

There is real justification as to why he's getting stick though. Since China talk he's been abysmal, and as for judging him in this game that's incorrect as he's been judged all season because he's our main striker. We seem to want to judge him top quality but then cover him in cotton wool and use excuses for him when he's poor. I think the lot of them bar Kante were truly shite on Sunday, and nobody can tell me that Costa in this game was deserving of an excuse, he was simply back to the old Costa where he wanted to be the bullied one and cover for the awful deficiencies he has, and has had for months.

Thing with this team is we always answer our critics and stand up. Sunday was bad, Wembley is our patch and Spurs are our enemy. The counter argument to that is difficult because he's been fetched back and hasn't even been given a sniff. Like I said in an earlier thread, had he been blooded in since his arrival back even for 20-30 minutes at a time, maybe, just maybe he would of slotted in for Alonso yesterday. Instead, what we had was an emergency situation that nobody saw coming and it was back to square pegs in round holes.

Had Ake been blooded in even some of the games maybe we would of had him as an option yesterday. This is the problem not allowing players like him any game time, and I mean 20-30 minutes or even more, they become ready as opposed to stagnant. Bringing him back to sit and watch was stupid.
