End of the Mata? Mourinho says Spaniard can leave Chelsea after furious reaction to being subbed at Southampton By NEIL ASHTON PUBLISHED: 18:17 GMT, 1 January 2014 | UPDATED: 18:31 GMT, 1 January 2014 Jose Mourinho has told Juan Mata he can quit Chelsea after his furious reaction to today’s 53rd minute substitution at St Mary's. Mata ignored Mourinho when he walked off the pitch at Southampton and then slammed a seat in the visiting team dug out as he vented his frustrations. His replacement Oscar, who was booked for diving, then made two and scored one in Chelsea’s comprehensive 3-0 victory. Trudging off: Juan Mata was replaced by Oscar in the 53rd minute with the score goalless at St Mary's Concerned glances: Michael Essien (top row, centre) and technical director Michael Emanalo (middle row, right) appear to console Mata Mata has won the club’s player of the year award for the past two seasons and was named in the PFA team of the year for 2012/13. But Mourinho said: ‘I don’t want him to go, that is my opinion and that is my wish - but my door is open. ‘The club door is open too, so when a player wants to speak with us we are there waiting for them. But if you ask me do I want to sell him, I don’t want to. Livid: Mata was frustrated at being hauled off and appeared to launch a tirade in the direction of the pitch Fuming: Mata was seen scowling on the touchlines following his substitution ‘I didn't see the reaction, his frustration was because of the result - we have to win. ‘If we don’t win this game then the difference to the leaders is bigger. at the end of the game everyone including him it was celebrating the victory.’ End of an era? Mata joined Chelsea from Valencia in 2011 and has won the Champions League, the Europa League and the FA Cup with the club That's the way to do it: Oscar came on for Mata and inspired Chelsea to a crucial away win

TRAORE MOVE COMPLETED Bertrand Traore completed his move to Chelsea today (Wednesday) and immediately sat down with the official website to discuss the transfer. The 18-year-old agreed to sign a four-and-a-half year contract with the club back in October, and with the opening of the January transfer window, he makes the switch from Association Jeunes Espoirs De Bobo-Dioulasso in his native Burkina Faso. Traore is a full international having made his debut in September 2011 a few days before his 16th birthday, and he made one substitute appearance at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations. An attacking midfielder, Traore was taken as a trialist on Chelsea's tour of Asia in the summer and played a part in all three games, scoring in Malaysia and in Indonesia. Bertrand, welcome to Chelsea. How happy were you with our trial period during the summer? 'I was very happy. It was a good experience with all the senior players and I learned a lot from them. I was very proud, so it was a dream for me to be there every day and playing games. Of course I was a little bit nervous but after two or three days I was okay.' Did you feel at home in training? 'On the pitch I was comfortable, I wasn't nervous once I was on the pitch. Jose Mourinho spoke a lot during training and he is one of the best managers, maybe the best in the world. He is a very good person and it is a dream for me to work with him. I can now say I am living a dream.' Did the squad make you sing an initiation song? 'Yes, I sang a French song, in French!' How would you describe your style of play? 'I'm an attacking midfielder. I can play in the number 10 position, I can play on the wings and I'm good on the ball. I can shoot well and am strong in a one v one situation, so I can score goals.' Who are your influences as a player? 'My favourite players are Juan Mata, Mesut Ozil and Eden Hazard. They're very good players and I am trying to be like them. At Chelsea I look to follow the way of some African legends like Didier Drogba, Michael Essien and nowSamuel Eto'o.' You're still young but you're a full international… 'Yes, I played for my country, with my brother, Alain, who plays in the same position. He is the person I followed to be a footballer. I played in the African Cup of Nations which was a good experience, and now I'm not scared of big games. I feel very comfortable.'

I am pretty sure that he will not leave in january transfer window....i think he will finish his contract with chelsea...eventhough he is not playing that much he will be in spain NT world cup squad....psg wont buy him in january because he is cup-tied..
-
what i hope: cech ivan luiz terry azpi ramires oscar willian mata hazard schurrle
-
There is absolutely nothing wrong with his attitude....and infact he has the best attitude and personality as a professional player. To suggest that mata was moody is wrong...i have seen him in all matches this season and he gave his 100% every match..sadly he is not suited to mourinho's system he is not able to produce goals and assists like last season.I think he is trying to adapt to the new role and i hope that he will be the player he was in last 2 seasons.
-
hazard in beast mode!!!!!
-
ivanovic should not start he cannot cope with southampton's pressing!!
-
piss poor performance!!! salah looking like messi!!
-
this is the right time for him to step up his performance....last year he single handedly raped the westham ....hoping for a repeat of that performance!!!
-
what a load of bullshit!!
-
we are missing torres!!
-
i cant believe that someone is blaming mata on the live thread because he did fuck all on the pitch when he came on ...and other is saying he got no pace...!!!
-
Juan Mata is on the bench for his 10th Chelsea match this season
-
cole is getting bench treatment from mourinho
-
May be this season he is falling more....but last season i didnt see him falling down easily
-
Mourinho didnt tell him to stick to winger's role......All three am's are rotating
-
this match made us to realise somethings: 1.When mazacar play, torres and lampard should not play 2.our full backs are not good at attacking 3.bertrand is better than cole at this moment 4.oscar should not play on wings 5.pivot problems 6.Mazacar is narrow 7.pressing should be improved 8.Mata and oscar should not play together unless mata sticks to winger's role(sorry for being harsh barbara..i have to agree with you)
-
oh dont quote that! we didnt concede 2 goals when mazacar was on pitch...your golden boy oscar was sloppy and didnt offer anything in attack
-
This is the best line up.It will be the starting line up in long term but it depends on how much mata will be able to adapt to the winger's role and lampard's effectiveness....i can compare this team to heyneckes' treble winning side.Mourinho wants this team to develop into that Bayern-Chelsea Cech/Neuer Lahm/Ivanovic-------------David luiz/Van buyten----------Dante/Terry--------------Alaba/Cole Javi martinez/Ramires----------Schweinsteiger/Lampard* Robben/Mata*------------------------------Muller/Oscar--------------------------Ribery/Hazard Mandzukic/Torres
-
heyneckes and messi all the way.....messi is the best footballer on earth
