What ever you do. Do not buy the ram upgrade online because quite frankly they're taking the piss with those prices. The ssd they provice are still quite good. I may have some spare ram sitting around at work that I might be able to send up to you for free. I'll check out work and let you know.

It's pretty straight forward with the pro's you just got to undo a few screws underneath and it's a standard 2'5" hard drive in place. Only thing is you will need to transfer across the operating system. So if you can't be bothers fucking around with it maybe just order it online with the ssd pre installed and just do the ram yourself.

Yes they will give you 10% off depending on which uni you're at. But if you do a custom build they might not depending on the parts. Also you may not need the i7 unless you intend on doing video editing. It won't really help much for basic use but anything with rendering involved it will be handy. For example if you use flash and a file is rendering the i7 will help alot. Something for you too consider. If you want to put a bigger ssd, just buy it separately and put it in yourself, then buy an external case and put in the hard drive from the mac into the case. I might be able to get you discount on stuff but you will have to say you know someone who works in vic and they sent me in and they will give you discount.

See that's where you need connections. I payed 1300 for my alienware and it shits over any $2500 mac. Also I agree so do I and the only reason I got an alienware is because I might be heading back overseas and I don't want to leave behind my gaming haha. Get an Alienware like myself! If you want a macbook pro with an ssd you can either get them to factory build one for you with it or do what I did. Remove the dvd drive out of it and get a device called a omni bay in which you can insert another hard drive.That's where I put my SSD and yeah I was running a 7200rpm HDD and a Intel SSD. Made it super quick have two good hard drives but if you want to game i would forget about it. Also if you're doing programming check with your uni what you can and can't use as I know for my course I couldn't really use my mac and it was not transferable for programming and it fucked everything up.
