Missed him for a bit then was reminded of his naive defensive skills. That near-post run from Jelavic was a carbon copy of the one Anichebe made for West Brom. He just switches off at key moments and will ALWAYS give the opposition something. Then there were a few textbook long-passes that went straight off the pitch where a simple pass would've sufficed. As a bloke his personality might be missed, but as a player he won't be.
-
Best player on the pitch after a bit of a slow start, but that was back to his early season form when he was the best player in the team. 4 tackles, 3 interceptions, 3 key passes, 1 assist, 1 goal. Outstanding. Keep it up.

What bitter, classless cunts Barcelona really are. Hope he shoves that statement back down their throats in the Champions League next season.

"He's a specialist in failure," Mourinho, February 2014 "They have an ...incredible manager." Fabregas, June 2014

Gonna be weird seeing him in a Chelsea shirt and I still have some reservations over how he'll fit into the team, but it's another fine bit of business when you look at his price, the fact he's homegrown and he's a good player. I trust Jose and I hope he's a massive success here. Might be a while before my first reaction to seeing him is CUNT! but I'll try. Welcome to the only club in London to have won the Champions League Cesc - when it comes to the Sky interview before the Arsenal match, keep your mouth shut please.

The people moaning really aren't making much sense, but when you see who is doing the moaning then you come to realise that the logic or content of their moaning really isn't the point - it's moaning for the sake of it. Kalas needs games and he should get them in a competitive league. As fourth choice here he would get very few games unless we suffer a couple of injuries. With more full-back cover we can afford to play Ivanovic as CB and he is a very good CB. In fact in the Liverpool game he carried Kalas and was MOTM for me. Jose won't fiddle with the back four unless he needs to - just look at how Luiz was ignored for much of the second-half of the season. Kalas got a chance to train with the squad, learn what it is to be a footballer here and even got some first-team experience. Now he'll take that and apply it to a full season of first-team football (hopefully). Next it's probably one of Omeruo or Zouma's turn to experience that, possibly both.

Sends 21 year old on loan and will probably promote a 20 or 19 year old = short-term oriented.

He's a fairly unique player in the sense that he can run all day long (seemingly) and is capable of scoring goals and creating stuff....occasionally. He's also massively inconsistent and is amongst the stupidest players I've ever seen. His lack of composure, his temper (which has cost us) and the fact that you never know what you'll get from him with the ball at his feet are problems. To a certain extent we've already replaced him with Matic. If we get Fabregas then you'd expect those two to start and Ramires be reserved to a 60th minute role to secure the game and matches against teams who will look to dominate possession against us. Is that worth more than the £25 million Real Madrid have offered? Possibly. If we get Tiago then maybe we can do without him, and then there's Van Ginkel and Chalobah who show promise defensively. He's got three years left on his contract and he's 27. This is probably going to be the peak of his transfer value although you could probably wait a year and still get £18 million + for him whatever type of season he has. As much as I disliked what he contributed last season, I can see the logic of keeping him or at least holding out for more money from Madrid.

Interesting is pushing it a bit. Even for the Mail that's a waste of time.

What is there to discuss with Hazard,,,,,maybe the Lukaku shouldn't make ambiguous statements ,,,,didn't see any meltdowns in Lukaku's thread either,,,,,just discussion.

I don't quite get this whole British/American conspiracy thing. Half the stadiums look like they're going to be designed by British or American architects for starters, and now it's big multinational corporations backing investigations into the bidding process. -
So he believed that, but still asked to leave because he didn't think he'd get enough games. There's a weird logic going on there. Yes he's said he loves this club and we have a great manager. He's also requested to leave this club. He's all over the place and seems to act on his emotions without thinking which is a slightly worrying trait when assessing young talent. He will score goals wherever he goes, but the Premier League has seen plenty of players who have done that. There's a difference between being a good goalscorer and being a winner and it all comes down to attitude. Jose Mourinho values very little higher than attitude and that's what might see Lukaku leaving the club.
-
It's all very well asking for Kalas to have been given more games, but when? Our defence was integral to EVERYTHING we did last season and we spent the first few months constructing it. David Luiz couldn't get a game in defence when we were looking to win things, so why would Kalas?
-
Blame Adidas. Their socks unfortunately aren't big enough to fit the cast that he was wearing. Maybe if we had Nike kits their voluminous footwear would've allowed him to make more starts....or maybe there was some other issue surrounding his broken bone that hindered him starting.
-
I'm judging him by his actions and comments, much as I would anybody in any field. What exactly is wrong with that? He's already said it was his choice. I've linked to the article already. He apparently believed that last year. Because how you could be on the bench after the year I had last year?
-
What do you expect a young player new to the team to get? A gradual introduction is perfectly acceptable isn't it? It's more time than Azpi got, an established player who bided his time and ended up as one of our players of the season. Lukaku could've taken that approach but instead decided to leave, and now we've signed one new striker and might be after another. He probably wouldn't have stayed as the third option though. If he was good enough he would have earned more minutes but he never backed himself to do that which is very worrying. Jose doesn't like players who don't back themselves so he might have just made himself expendable.

I didn't twist your words. You're the one who of men 'letting' their wives wear certain types of clothing. Start dating a few women and use that type of thinking - see how far that gets you. -

So the defence is that people are picking on your country because it's small yet has the highest GDP per capita in the world? Tiny bit silly. Don't really feel the need to get in a slagging match with a boy over the internet. If you think you're smarter than me than you're quite free to think that. Let's face it, it's not the only thing you'd be burying your head in the sand about. FIFA is a corrupt organisation and everyone knows it, but they outdid themselves this time. Personally I couldn't give two shits because the World Cup really isn't high on my list of priorities but it's sad that this competition which does celebrate some of the best sporting and humanitarian principles is going down this route. I have nothing against Qatar but I think you're going to end up revealing a few of your less 'accepting' traits as you continue to defend what is fairly indefensible. Most of us are old enough and worldly enough to know exactly where your comments about 'letting our wives and daughters run around in tiny skirts' come from. The fact that you use the word 'let' is massively revealing of your beliefs. How would I not 'let' my wife wear what she wanted? That's her choice to make, her FREEDOM as not just a woman, but a human being with exactly the same rights that I have. Here's a tip - don't 'let' a woman hear you say that because it might be a while before you see an ankle again. -

Because that's exactly what football is about. 17 years old and got the spiel down already. Are you looking forward to seeing an 'estrogen fueled' ankle for the first time?? 'Estrogen fueled'.... gynophobia is the word of the day. -

Proof? How about that the Summer World Cup ended up in perhaps the worst possible place to hold it. People aren't surprised because FIFA is a disgusting organisation run by corrupt, fat old men. The whole thing is a joke and any of the other candidates would have made for a better World Cup. Now haven't you got flyers to hand out. Careful....you might see some skin. -

Fixed. -
On the plus side, in two years time we'll have a fairly sizeable amount of money freed up to play with. Ideally we'd sell him for £20 million this year.
-
They'll probably be asking him to take them with him.
-
No, the facts are that he was involved in the matchday squads of EVERY game he was available for. He was used in three of the four matches. In what way is that not giving someone a proper chance?
-
Jose managed to balance Higuain and Benzema quite well. Costa and Mandzukic would both get plenty of games and compliment each other's skillsets nicely in my opinion.
