  1. Actually, rambo is technically kind of that role.... Except prior to Matic, our cms were under par.
  2. True that... hes a better version of Lukaku... But your right, he wouldnt fit well. I wonder how much benteke would go for?
  3. Ake promoted to the first team By Graham MacAree  @MacAree on Jan 18 2014, 10:39a 36 Scott Heavey TWEET (6) SHARE  SHARE 36 COMMENTS ⋆ REC 2 In the wake of Ryan Bertrand's loan to Aston Villa, there've been plenty of questions about Chelsea's depth at fullback. Bertrand's absence meant that Chelsea are now down to three senior players -- Ashley Cole, Cesar Azpilicuetaand Branislav Ivanovic -- to cover two positions, which is dangerously light for a squad that will (hopefully) be playing a lot of matches between now and the end of the season. Jose Mourinho is compensating for this by promoting another youngster. Nathan Ake, who saw some time with the first team as a defensive midfielder last season, is being brought into the senior squad to serve as cover: Because Bertrand is leaving I'm bringing Ake now to the squad because he is a player that can play there, and even in an emergency David Luiz or Branislav Ivanovic can play left-back. So even though only Ashley Cole is a specialist left-back we don't have problems. -Source: ChelseaFC.com It's not a bad idea by any measure, although Ake's performance at left back is obviously a step below what we might ahve expected from Bertrand. Ake actually playing there would require an unfortunate set of circumstances, so we're hopefully not going to see it happening, but we now have backup just in case -- and Ake will once again be developing by training with the big boys.
  4. "Because Bertrand is leaving I’m bringing Ake into the squad because he is a player that can play there."
  5. Actually, ake as an utility player does makes the most sense out of anyone on Chelsea.... I was hoping he get some run at CM, but w.e.
  6. Liverpool has a holding mid in Allen, and yet they play Stevie G....
  7. Good luck to KDB.... I wish we had tried him with Oscar and a holding mid in 4-3-3, but I guess things werent meant to be! Wolfsburg is a step up from Werder bremen so it should be a good opportunity..
  8. If mignolet can play for Liverpool, TC can play in the EPL..
  9. So, ake going to play lb now?
  10. I never understood why we didnt go for Remy last season or the season before..... Hes like the perfect counterattacking CF (or better than anyone on Chelsea). Freaking newcastle is the french national team v. 2.0, where as Arsenal used to be that....
  11. I watched the second half of the game this morning and Shaw was ok..... He can run forward well, but besides that Im not really seeing much else... However, this season, I've only watch a handful amount of games from him, so I am prob wrong..... I dont really see this best lb potential people rave about. I see more of a teenager playing for a midtable team whose body mature well for a footballer... The funny thing is his other mate on the other side is prob better than him...
  12. I think its more pride.... Young kids all hear barca fans being proud of Xavi, iniesta, puyol, valdes all coming up from their academy, etc. However, in the EPL, thats not the case. EPL is run by foreign talent. The top players are mostly foreign players for the league. Maybe your too young to remember barca before that period, with Ronaldinho, messi, eto, motta, deco, edmilson, van bommel, etc.... "I remember Barça played eleven or twelve years ago with eleven outsiders. This goes in phases. It's not like they can boast playing eleven home-grown players now. That's the message they're trying to put across at the moment, but a few years back they barely had any home-grown players. They started with Puyol and Xavi." - Iker Casillas Lets see how many make it from Barca now..... On a side note, I completely understand the whole English concept. However, my point was if their was a huge gap in talent from those two and transfer fees it might be better too look closely into Rodriguez than.. Also, we already have Cahill, and Chabs is suppose to be this uber CM for the future.
  13. Are you guys serious.... You guys make it seem like you scout every player in the world... Somehow, I dont believe that you guys watch every football game from every football league.... Its one thing to argue with players on Chelsea that we see week in and week out concerning stats, but its another thing to argue on players that you probably never seen on a weekly basis... I would take their website over your opinion when it comes from guys outside of the BPL... I can understand taking in Shaw due to being English, etc, however, not that hes better or will better... How is Gibbs and Walker doing? This guy can be the guy that unlocks Hazard true potential, similar to what Marcelo does for Cristiano.
  14. i dont know how u guys watch every player in the world, but according to whoscored, doesnt seem like a small difference... http://www.whoscored.com/Players/118244 Luke Shaw's Characteristics + StrengthsDribblingStrong- WeaknessesPassingWeakHolding on to the ballWeak Luke Shaw's Style of PlayLikes to dribbleLikes to crossLikes to play short passes© WhoScored.com * Strengths, weaknesses and style of play are calculated from player statistics in domestic league games this season and lasthttp://www.whoscored.com/Players/61610/Show/Ricardo-Rodriguez Ricardo Rodriguez's Characteristics + StrengthsCrossingStrongKey passesStrongDribblingStrongDirect free kicksStrongTaking set-piecesStrongHolding on to the ballStrongAerial DuelsStrongBall interceptionStrongTacklingStrong- WeaknessesConcentrationWeak Ricardo Rodriguez's Style of PlayLikes to play long ballsPlays the ball off the ground oftenLikes to dribbleLikes to crossCommits fouls often© WhoScored.com I understand the whole English thing. At Madrid, it was the same thing, with Jose and company bringing in all foreign players... Everyone was villified, save Cristiano.
  15. Chelsea is owned by a russian, with a Portuguese manager... I highly doubt they would care... So, this whole thread is dealing with being english moreso than homegrown?
  16. What are the exact rules again for home grown status? Also, CIty core isnt english. United core isnt english..(ok, kind of english) Arsenal is english/french/german. Liverpool isnt going to be english as well... Tottenham is Walker and who? Also, wouldnt lukaku count already? Granted Jose is portuguese, I would expect a few more foreign signings from him especially from portugal/brazil.
  17. Even though its unlikely, I would try to loan in Capoue or buy him....Hes rarely played for Spurs and they have like 5cms on their team....
  18. They still have Chicarito..... And we have yet to see the best from Kagawa.... Still, if we cant win, i would be really disappointed...I can understand crap team + RVP a chance of losing, but not without him....
  19. This is exactly why you guys arent scouts... http://www.bvb.de/eng/News/Overview/BVB-sign-Dong-Won-Ji Bundesliga now have 6 koreans... Son Heung-min and Ryu Seung-woo at Leverkusen, Koo Ja-cheol at Wolfsburg, Park Ju-ho at Mainz Hong Jeong-ho and Ji at Augsburg.
  20. I was thinking about this the other day.... Not with Mikel so much, but with Anderson. had he went to a team that would of utilized him properly, what would he eventually had become...
  21. Ji dong won to BVB. Last season, people laughed at the idea on the Sunderland board and thought it was korean made bs... http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/25779113 Ki Seung Yeung is still not getting recalled by Landrup, even though they are one game away from regulation with their whole midfield injured (along with playing their CBs as CM)..... Landrup sure does take personal grudges to full extent...
