I seriously agree with you. Oscar was the one that controlled the game and linked up with the players more. I know mata scored two goals but oscar could have easily had a goal(if the ref let play go on) and 2 assists(if torres could finish a one on one in his life). And he had serious work rate through out the match, fantastic player.

No problems xd

Moses was not playing well out of position so I was relieved to see hazard on..
-
Torres played well, but shuld have buried oscars pass Mata is just on form. Great movement, two well taken goals. Pls teach torres how to finish Oscar could have had a goal and two assists, if they allowed his goal and if torres scored his one on one pass from oscar. Moses was terrible, shuld never play on the left. He's not used to it Lampard did well Ramires is like a new signing, our box to box midfielder we have bn searching Luiz shuld stop hoofing the ball. Nice freekick Cahil good Ashley cole, pls we can't let him go. Best leftback in the world Ivanovic okay Mikel calmed down our game wen he came on Hazard comin on for moses was a let off. Why wasn't torres in the box during mata's goal. Was disapointed to find ivanovic in his striker position and not torres he should stop that.

I had this feeling you know. Barcelona bought ibrahimovic and sold him because it didn't let messi get better. They bought villa and converted him from a striker to a winger. At any other club he won't be wasted in a wings, his goal tally has dropped drastically. C ronaldo was the main man for man utd. Even for madrid, u can see he doesn't defend to waste stamina and alonso and khedira cover for him. But they know ronaldo is their most crucial player in a counter attack and have set their system to suit that. I always imagined a situation where chelsea played barca's false 9 system, with mikel as busquets, Lampard as xavi Oscar as iniesta Moses as sanchez Mata as pedro Hazard as messi Mikel Lamps. Oscar Moses. Hazard. Mata But most times, it has more to do with the playing style of the team and buying players to suit the style.
-
I understand you. Oscar didn't play to his usual standards. I'm not denying it. But nobody else can provide chelsea with defensive cover and be good enough to give good passes for attack. (Lamps is too slow now) If oscar doesn't exaust his stamina defending a faster arsenal, then he will have the extra energy to be effective as mata in attack. All I'm saying is that his attacking productivity was sacrificed to close down arteta. Don't say the whole team marked arteta bcos mikel can't leave the back and come foward just to mark arteta so stop saying the whole team prevented arteta, even dimatteo said it, it was a man marking on their playmaker like pirlo. It was totally oscar that made sure arsenal don't pass to arteta. This caused them to go through the wings and they couldn't hold possesion. Just look at how they played mancity at the etihad and u'll see what I'm saying. They possesed the ball in the middle and were able to create chances. But since we forced them to go to the flanks to lose possesion, we held unto the ball more, making them have fewer attacks. Dimatteo will field the defensive line up that he used for qpr if he didn't realise oscars workrate. His more defensive role exausted him from being more attacking, that's what happened. Come on, arteta had an average of 95 touches per game (the highest in the league) before chelsea and against us he had 65, pls Give credit where it is due.
-
What I'm saying is that, he did exactly what dimatteo wanted from him, mark out arteta so that arsenal chances on target are reduced. That was why they were force to attack only from the wings instead of through arteta. Like how will they pass to him if he was always marked by oscar. I'm sure if he didn't score in the juventus game u would say he played bad and vidal ran through him. It wasn't his best game, but he did well. He did the task RDM gave him - "mark out arteta" Mata and hazard are more attacking and oscar balances that, FACT.
-
Oscar did the dirty job that we couldn't do against athletico madrid. Marking the playmakers so he helped just like with pirlo. His passing accuracy was still among the best in the match. Arteta averaged 95 touches per game before chelsea and oscar reduced it to 64. That's how chelsea could keep possesion and reduce arsenal chances. The only thing left is 1. more cohesion between oscar-mata-hazard, 2. better runs from the counter attacks, and 3. more positive holding of the ball from torres without losing it everytime and we will have a playing system finally.

Perfect game to rotate our squad, will love to give some people a rest so that they can be as fresh as mata is right now. Turnbull Cesar-cahill-terry-betrand Romeu-lampard Moses-mata-marin Sturridge/torres Cech rest your elbow Ivanovic needs a rest Cole needs a freakin rest Mikel needs a freakin rest Luiz needs a freakin rest Ramires needs a freakin rest Hazard needs a bloody rest. Lost a little form compared to the begining of the season. I mean look at mata now... Oscar could come in 2nd half I don't think sturridge is fit yet. But if he is then he shuld play or torres can add to his goal tally for confidence. We need to rest players for this game because we finally have the squad to do that. That's what makes ferguson very good in the premier league, he rotates keeping everyone fresh.(Look at mata's perfomance now) So that 60games can be played among everyone. I don't know what the fuss is about, this squad above is good enough to beat that team, the only problem is lampard in the pivot.

Oscar has a more defensive work rate than mata and hazard. At juventus dimatteo only played him because his job was to mark pirlo. Against arsenal, oscars job was to mark arteta. Arteta had the highest touches per match before meeting chelsea and oscar limited it. In the first half, chelsea bossed arsenal. When oscar was taken off, you could see that arsenal chances started to come. He can't always have both a defensive and offensive good game like juve. Because of his ability to always be available for his teammates for a pass, and his defensive attributes, his presence on the pitch is a massive bonus to chelsea. Not his best game because he lost the ball somtimes, but you can tell they are trying to build his physical game. His defensive work rate is the only reason that RDM can field attacking line-ups of hazard-oscar-mata and we should give credit where its due.

Very good analysis but I think we need width out wide on the right to hurt arsenal. They are good on the ball too, as I've watched their last 3 games. We need moses on the right to replace either mata or oscar. This is where there is a selection headache. Mata is a good one touch player, has the best range of passin in our team and best vision and creates more chances than anyone. Oscar is a one touch player, quick passer(one-two's) and movement. He puts chelsea in control of the game by pressurising opponents off the ball, and comes deep to collect the ball from the defence to start attacks(like xavi). He also offers our threats to score and is often our main threat of scoring when he plays(he can shoot), since torres(neva shoots) is not good enough dese days. I'm really confused among these two who will start but mata's experience should see him start but if we need a goal or need to control the match more, the oscar may come in the second half.

I meant gibbs, I knew pple will pick on that and forget the rest of the comment

RDM has a selection problem. Mata is our best creative force and must play. Ramires has impressed in his recent displays in the center as our best dm and he must play too. Sturridge is not fit so, I'm guessing torres will start. Moses has to start, he has provided chelsea with the width and winger role we have lacked since duff/robben. He will keep gibbs defending back. I don't want gibbs bombarding our flanks. I'm trapped between oscar and hazard but funny enough, I would bring them from the bench instead. Game is too hot for cesar and I want a cahill-terry but I hear terry is not training, so luiz will be in defence. Best line up Ivanovic-cahill-luiz-cole Mikel-ramires Moses-lampard-mata Torres Lampard will defend too like oscar does and provide experience we need. He has also bn rested so I want him behind torres since he is more capable of scoring than torres right now.
-
I hope the dimatteo has noticed this and had a talk with him because its so obvious and he just needs to stop.
-
@ BOLD Exactly, when drogba gets the ball, he brings it down, bullies the defender with his strength and fires a ferocious shot or passes to the incoming malouda in the wing. But torres, you just know he is going to fall and lose possesion because he is only looking to dribble instead of linking up with his teammates or creating space and shooting QUICKLY LIKE OSCAR OR LIKE THE LAST GOAL HE SCORED FOR LIVERPOOL AGAINST CHELSEA. God help him the day sturridge gets his chance and plays a lot better, even the chelsea teammates will lose patience with him. He needs to link up with passes instead of dribbling and losing possesion, he is no messi.
-
Dont get me wrong, i am a serious torres supporter, i was the happiest chelsea supporter when we bought him. But i noticed the difference in style of play compared to liverpool. I dont think its because he was more passionate for liverpool but i think its his confidence. He scored A LOT OF LONG RANGE GOALS for liverpool and at chelsea he is afraid to take a shot. C ronaldo is a more dangerous player because he can shoot from any where and that alone pulls defenders tightly to him to create space for team mates. Torres should watch his liverpool tapes, i know he has lost a little speed but its his confidence dat disturbs him the most. He could shout to his teamates to pass the ball where he wants but in chelsea, he moves without having eye contact with the passer or raising his hand and it becomes wasted because nobody can read his mind. Thats why i sugested he should shout or demand of the ball more. Any time he passes the ball, he should never stand straight but make the run foward just like mata did with hazard. And he should shoot a lot more from outside the box. Do you remember the last goal he scored against us before he came to chelsea?<p>Because of his confidence now, he will definately not take%2
-
torres needs to do what i say to get better thats all. This is not a video game where he can make mistakes forever and correct anytime its the real deal. He earns 200,000. He is the highest earner and should prove his worth. Excuses are getting him nowhere, if he doesnt develop his game like i said, then he is the worst flop in world football.
-
Torres rarely makes runs, mata will find him if he does
-
Dont get me wrong, the things i listed above are ways for torres to improve his play. If he doesnt then he will never improve and hope on offside goals to improve his goal tally
-
http://www.goal.com/...nship-with-club We stuck with torres now till january
-
He hides behind the defender makin it difficult to pass to him. If he makes runs, it will be easier to give through balls. If he comes back and combines like how mata and hazard combined i am very sure he will have more chances. Like i said in this thread, the only time i saw torres come back and make a run into the box this season was against newcastle, and he scored. He needs more of that especially in big matches. He cant keep having only one shot, i can swear if torres was in oscar's position for the second goal, he wont shoot but will try to dribble and lose the ball. His confidence is just
-
Mata had 20 league assists, highest in the premier league last season. You have to be kidding me if you think mata is not good enough. Torres is just not good enough unless you want chelsea to buy xavi and iniesta in the midfield then i dont know why torres is not scoring.
-
The problem is that you focus on what others have done for torres and dont consider what torres has done for himself or what he has done for his teammates. Drogba can decide to chest the ball down, shoot from outside the box and score for his teammates. Torres will lose the ball before he can control it leading to a counter attack. Torres will try to dribble and lose the ball when he had a chance to shoot. Against juventus, chelsea had 11 shots and torres contributed to only 1. Why you are denying he is not playing well is confusing.
-
If i pass to my striker 10 times and he falls down and loses the ball 8 times, will i pass to him again? You didnt read the topic, i stated clearly the problems torres has. I play soccer too so i watch torres and i know how difficult it is to understand him. If you dont know by now that torres plays inconsistently and an unpredictable way for his own teammates to understand, then you may have not been watching chelsea matches. Even kalou scored goals when he was a striker for chelsea. Torres is a smaller striker trying to play like a big striker, he cant just be loosing the ball stupidly. That is my main issue with him, i dont know if he forgets he has teammates sometimes. He must make runs behind the defence or pass and run for a one-two to score. Simple as that. We have played mata - torres cant score we have played hazard (has the highest assist in the league) - torres finds it hard to score we have lampard And you still think there is no problem with torres?
