  1. Nice! The last heading goal from Eden that I could recall was in November 2012 against WBA.
  2. Happy Birthday, JT! Chelsea legend from head to toes.
  3. The most important thing is you were both there to support the team you love. Next time we'll win!
  4. Everton aren't getting anything from this, are they?...
  5. What a joke. Milner rams into Jagielka, falls and penalty. Ridiculous.
  6. Sure they can. But points are not awarded for wins on paper.
  7. Just a game to relax and rest some key players as the festive period is coming close. Might play Cesc though, I think he just had his 5th yellow and is going to miss the match against Hull next week.
  8. City are not a one-man team, but if the Aguero injury turns out to be lenghty, that will seriously hurt them during the festive period.
  9. Always nice to see Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool suffering, but at the moment that affects us as much as WHU or QPR dropping points. Go Everton!
  10. Very disappointed obviously, but shit happens. We were unlucky to come out with nothing from the game, but it was going to happen eventually. Unfortunately games like this one will occur once in a while and there's little we can do about it. Also this is our 3rd consecutive loss when we visit St James's park in the league, just how lucky can one get? Regardless, if anyone thought we're going to win the league by Christmas that was quite the wishful thinking there. We're still leading and we have lots of work to do.
  11. I'm not the one who made the comparison, just pointing out that Nedved shouldn't be used as the best example for loyalty. And how do you know he wasn't looked up by the Lazio fans? He was their best player of their star studded team which beat Juventus to the Scudetto in 2000 in the final day of the season. I can imagine it was a big deal for the Lazio fans. For all the players you've mentioned that was their best career choice at the time. Which team in Italy would want a 40 y.o Del Piero and pay him ridiculous wages in the same time? Similar things could be said about the others. I can't be sure what offers did they have but at least they probably weren't good enough in order to be worth facing the backlash and criticism from the media.
  12. Nedved didn't seem to have a problem joining Juventus from Lazio, the team he had been playing for quite a while and probably Juve's top rivals for the Serie A title at the time. Also quite easy for him to say those things to suck up to the fans, I doubt he'd been offered the ridiculous contract, that was given to Frank by the City Football Group. I'm not saying all of above to insult Nedved, not in the slightest. He was a fantastic player and one of the best playmakers I've seen in the Serie A, but those kind of statements by the footballers are cringeworthy. The football clubs are looking after their best interests and so are the players.
  13. Extremely productive half. Even their defenders are scoring the chances we're creating!
  14. Am I the only one who is sick that our current team is being constantly compared with Arsenal's invincibles like they are the best team to ever grace the Premier League? I think we've already had that...10 years ago and that season we broke so many records that I'm surprised the media is putting more focus on Arsenal's 03/04. We might have lost one more game (to a penalty) but we also won 3 more games (which was also a record - 29 wins in a single season), had the highest number of points in the history of the PL (95) and also set the record for most clean sheets in a season (25). We've also had higher goal difference than Arsenal in 03/04, won more trophies and went further than them in the Champions League. We also knocked them out of the Champions League in the 03/04 season. I just don't think that 1 less loss outweighs how much better we did. It's probably something that has been discussed a lot in the past, but I'm interested to read some opinions on the matter.
  15. I'm not at all concerned about United, Arsenal or Liverpool as we're light years ahead of them, regardless if they're getting more rest or not. I'd rather at least two of them fail to qualify for next year's CL so we can have more arguments in the debate of them being mid-table teams What is slightly worrying is that City are on the verge of another early CL exit and as hilarious as it is, that usually boosts their Premier League form after New Year. In the best case scenario they'll finish third in their group and go to the EL.
  16. My team -------------------------Cech--------------------- --Ivanovic---Carvalho---Terry-----Cole------ -----------Makelele-------Essien--------------- --------------------Lampard--------------------- --Zola---------------------------------Hazard--- --------------------Drogba----------------------- I tried to keep the selection based on contribution rather than talent, but there are a few exceptions such as Hazard, who is considered one of the world's best wingers so I couldn't resist. And to be fair he's already been player of the year and carried the team for much of last season, so he has earned his spot. Cech, JT and Carvalho - The best defensive formation of keeper and a pair of centre backs not only in our history, but in worldwide football at the time as they kept smashing records for clean sheets and least conceded goals. They had conceded like 15 in 38 games in their first season together in 04/15 and that is nothing short of amazing. Cole - One of the best left backs in the world at the time we signed him, great both in attack and defensively, I will never forget his goal-line clearances and his great performances when we were backed up against the wall. Ivanovic - An absolute tank. The strongest player I can recall playing for us, he has contributed with so many headed goals and he's a rock at the back. Makelele - Easily the best defensive midfielder in the world and rightfully so the CDM position was named the Makelele position. I don't think we've ever replaced him properly for so many years. Essien - The great bison was among the most versatile players in the club. Fantastic box-to-box midfielder who contributed with fantastic defensive displays, often deployed as a RB, he added lots of power and strength in the team. Lampard - Our greatest ever player IMO and the best goalscorer we've ever had. When you think of Frank you think of goals. The most clinical finisher I've seen wearing a Chelsea shirt, easily surpassing all of our strikers in the last decade. Zola and Drogba - The magician and the king. Zola was our most exciting player in the mid 90s to early 00s and he's probably the guy who made people turn their attention to Chelsea at the time. Didier on the other hand was something else. I've never rated his abilities as highly as others and I didn't think he was as good as the other top strikers, but being the ultimate big match player is what made him a Chelsea legend. 9 goals in 9 finals for us and most importantly the hero in the greatest night in the history of CFC. Others who almost made my team: Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink - The most clinical striker I've seen in Chelsea (until the arrival of Costa). His partnership with Gudjohnsen was fantastic and brought so many goals in the final years before Roman's arrival. Michael Ballack - To be honest I was a tough choice between him and Essien. He joined us a bit late when he was entering the twilight of his career as he's been hit by injuries, but nevertheless a great player in his time at The Bridge, an engine in the midfield, always offering great support to our attacking players.
  17. I could have never imagined that I will ever feel a bit frustrated in a game where we're winning by 2 goals. That's how good we are! :blue scalf:
  18. Mr Shakira can stay where he is now. I'd rather we look elsewhere or take our chances with Zouma.
  19. Oh, come on, Austin. That was an absolute sitter.
  20. It doesn't get much more satisfying that winning at Anfield! Well done, boys! Diego, you beast! KTBFFH!
  21. The goal we conceded left a bitter taste with a collective mistake by Luis, Ivanovic and I think Cahill. But I have to say apart from this moment when we completely switched off and Azpilicueta's dumb challenge we were in total control. Anyway, 7th win in 8 games! Bring on Manure!
