Apparently bc ake can play lb (terribly), is homegrown and left footed apparently when you check those it is irrelevant that you suck at football
-
Tha's not even the question. Did they buy a washed up 27 year old who has not played regularly for years and has not developed at all? Salah and KDB were always good players, sold bc of a short-term manager and who made great progress as players. They were signed before entering their peak years and put in a system tailor made for them. Nothing of this holds for ake

That’s what I have been preaching all summer he is still the exact same player we sold to Bournemouth Heard he will have a 77 rating in fifa 23. The fifa players can confirm that is the exact same rating he had on his first non rare gold card in fifa 18. Even the duds at ea have recognised he has not developed one bit.
-
yeah that was what i expected. City, one of the richest clubs in the world, are actually gonna sign a 100x better replacement for the dreg and make a profit in the process. Could not make this up. Absolute amateur hour from our board.
-
Tomori we sold for 28m now he is worth 50 guehi I am stilll undecided on but we have a buy back clause Both comfortably better than ake tho
-
You haven’t missed anything. He is still exactly that same, extremely unremarkable player who left us. That’s the problem. 0 development in his entire senior career. If he was still 21 he would be a promising player but he is fkin 27 … still the same inconsistent touch still exactly as tiny still almost never makes a successful tackle or interception still decent but not special passing still average in the air scores the occasional tap in from a corner every 50 games probably the most boring pl cb there is
-
Honesty would take recently released Zagadou over ake. Guess what he is left footed as well Rebuilding and chilly were both decent options kimpembe and ake are both unterwhelming but at least the Frenchman is younger, more experienced at top level and on his best day looks like a really good defender. Ake is just at a consistently poor average. Bournemouth was his level at best, should have stayed there
-
Yeah so gutted they played Fernandinho, walker, zinchenko aand plenty of others over him at cb when they had their cb injury crisis All city are doing is talking the price up bc they know how desperate we are. In fact they can’t believe they are gonna turn in a profit on someone they overpaid 30m themselves. They will be laughing all the way to the bank after selling us this fraud
-
Yeah he would also be youger and cheaper ake is just a terrible signing. 50m for a 15m player just can’t believe it
-
Thiago silva is completely different gravy tho. He was the best defender in the world in his prime. He was always about intelligence and reading of the game. Kouli is more about his waning athleticism
-
overpaying again for a player we correctly rejected years ago next year we will try to loan him back cos ppl realize he is shit again rinse and repeat Now bring back matic, David Luiz, tammy and fkin josh mceachran built the ultimate team of dregs
-
Now we wait for mancity to replace him with an actual footballer
-
Have they ever been not disgusting? Two of my least favourite clubs. Used to have some grudging respect for Barca cos they were so good under pep and our most important international rival. Now they are just pathetic Bauern you either love or hate with a passion as german so why would we pull our offer? We might still continue bidding to drive up the price they have to pay
-
I agree, we need a more experienced guy to play alongside our young guns when Thiago inevitably drops off. VDV is still going strong but he knows the league inside out. Koulibaly is showing signs of slow decline and would have to adapt to the league with a ton of mileage in his legs. Also he only has 1 year left on his contract, surely we could negotiate a better fee... Obviously I would still prefer him over Ake and Kounde. My priorities of the guys on the market would be MDL (obv not realistic)>Skriniar>Bremer>Koulibaly>N'dicka>Kimpembe>>>>>>>>Kounde>>>>>>>>>>>>>Ake
-
40m€ is too much for a 31 y.o. Big no for me esp given his injury record. That ship sailed 5 years ago
-
He has 4 years left on his contract tho. The club holds all the power here. If he rejects a place in the squad or a loan we could easily wreck his career so we should at least get a huge fee for him
-
It feels like broja has no patience and wants to force a move. Why else would he want to talk with Todd and not TT about his plans for him in the squad
-
Frenkie is a pipe dream but you can bet on Barca trying to throw as many of their shit players at Todd even without English media reporting it
-
Exactly what I was thinking a straight swap would be free lunch. that’s why it is probably BS
-
The Sterling deal is done. Why would anybody bother photoshopping when it is probably easier to get leaked legit photos.
-
Even though he still has to make connections, i doubt Todd would travel to Barcelona to sell two old squad players. There have to be talks about Dest and/or FDJ. If he really pulls off FDJ for alonso, azpi + some 60m, this might go some way compensating the MDL failure. But not buying ake. that will remain unforgiveable lol
-
We really have not learned from all those disasters of bringing back former players. Ake is still the same 15m player we sold to Bournemouth. Him picking up another 2 pl titles by riding the city stands does not improve him at all, nor does the fact City were already foolish enough to pay 40m for him. Now they will recoup that money from a club that operates even more foolishly.
-
Jonathan Clauss will probably be Azpi replacement until we buy back Livramento.
-
If we want to ply with a left footed cb all the time we need at least two
-
Other than Ake, I think Kimpembe is a risk worth taking, albeit i would prefer gvardiol or ndicka for that left footed LCB role. As you say, Kimpembe has moments of absolute horror like when singlehandedly volleyballed PSG out of the CL vs ManUre. But him leaving is conditional on PSG signing Skriniar but I can see Kimpembe working fine alongside Silva as well.
