Gomez surely does not have that problem. he would offer less for the combinations but he would not force us to play a different way. he would simply be there and convert. Against the smaller teams where we usually are wasteful this would be great, but if we want to buy s.o. who is our main man in the big matches we have to look further. Also I think it would not even make much difference putting Lampard as a striker or Gomez. Both rely on their finishing and positioning. Gomez is maybe a bit taller and faster, but that's it.

Last time pellegrini had to feture in a project of comparable dimension at Real Madrid, he failed completely. He might be a decent coach, but IMO he is overrated. He's the same calibre as Sven göran-Eriksson or Roy Hodgson, He has no experience at all what it takes to win the very biggest titles. The only managers who had success for more than one year here were Ancelotti and Mourinho. they were among his worst games. no doubt. no matter what excuses you want to find for that. Every attacking player prefers to have the ball more often than not, still Kalou, Lampard, Drogba, Ramires performed superbly in these matches. it happens you have less of the ball against better opponents and are marked by good players. One decent cross does not make a decent performance.I think this goal was 99% courtesy of Drogba's incredible will than of mata's precision.
