Ofc it always does that is why they pick the moments to swing a match perfectly
-
Has there ever been a goalie worse at saving pens than Mendy ffs
-
Already feels like this is gonna end in frustration the refs have well and truly taken control of Pl and swung this game

Fk mike dean

Salisu is a beast so quick
-
Silva booked for a perfectly fine tackle so disgusting
-
Noticed werner's timing in the air is better than lukaku's his shooting from outside is terrible tho. this is gonna get messy
-
what the actual fuck not even a foul just a gentle push and it was ages ago. cant believe that was chucked off. unbelievable. disgusting from the refs. two goals disallowed one more stupid than the other
-
Goal did not come by chance. Lot of huge players in blue in that box. Tt doing it pulis style
-
Weird lineup. Is RLC in the pivot or an AM? looks like no connection between midfield and attack again. But at least Alonso is finally benched
-
Mina get your position right ffs
-
So much for thicker lines

i am surprised he has not gotten a lot out of them so far( esp given how free-scoring Aubameyang, Miki, Reus were, even duds like Max Philip performed under him in attack). But neither did Lamps. Those players all have their individual problems that hinder their development and TT does not seem to have a solution for any. A change in system might get a bit more out of them and while i think we will be more stable than under Lampard there will be a lot of problems re-occuring. We definitely should keep the option of playing 5atb in big games and even drop Lukaku there. Will need some massive balls, but otherwise i fear TT will be a goner next year.

lol not good given we are gonna play the Saints with Mohammed salisu, Che Adams, Adam Armstrong etc.
-
fatigue might also be a point. Marcos is a terrible natural athlete and probably cannot really do much when he is not at 100% fitness. As Marcos is now back in national team this should aggravate. At the same time Chilly is not playing for England and now can reverse the tables to use this advantage same as Alonso did over the summer.

Rewatched the game and i have to say the rest of the team, esp our midfielders just don't know how to bring Lukaku into play effecitvely. He usually makes his runs early when the oppositon is still a bit disoragnised but kovacic and jorginho pass it back, receive it agian, spread it out to the wing backs before they think of playing a direct ball into lukaku. this is what he is there for, where he thrives. Whether you play him into feet or let him use his pace for an off-the shoulder run but play it into him while there is space ffs. If we sacrifice our press and intensity by playing lukaku at least play to his strengths

Last season we lost almost every big game with Alonso in starting (except for the freak city away game) Other than him thevonly notable personal change is lukaku. Both players prevent us from playing the gameplay that was so so successful in the CL run. Fast paced you get attacking with occasional high press and maximum intensity. really should make some changes here. Does not take a genius to figure this out

Fail to win here and I would call it more than a blip. Hasenhüttl will know exactly how to tackle us, target our weaknesses. TT has to switch stuff up.
-
Wonder if it is some mental thing. The chances he got today he would score in his sleep if the opponent was Watford or Norwich
-
Told you Alonso would be going to be a disaster like in most big matches. Quality oppositions will stop and exploit him more often than not . He becomes a liability only, instead of an attacking threat
-
Now we will see what TT is really made of and if he has learned. we all knew Lukaku was not really all that. He made our play worse and is prticulalrly useless in big games which will make or break our season. Most of our starting XIs have been questionable this season and now we got punished for it twice. Time to step up
-
Expected juve xi looks a lot like Spurs quality wise. With Lukaku we are far more comfortable vs slightly inferior teams whilst we will struggle more vs superior teams will be interesting to face another back 5
-
His absence can really hurt us. Shame we could not get hakimi. This is CHO‘s chance to make this position his own. But as I know TT he will play Azpi all the time lol

Couldn’t watch the game in full live bc of a rescheduled flight but watched it in relive and what disappoints me the most apart from the ultra defensive set up and poor individual performances is how TT played for a draw but could not get it. We were never gonna dominate city and with that lineup it would have been difficult to beat them on the break as well so we effectively wanted a draw from the outset. Defending is what we are supposed to be good at but City kept taking us apart. Usually when TT wants a draw he gets one. Taking a 1-0 loss vs the best team in the world per se is Not the Problem . But the way we did was woeful. I really hope the coach and the team learn a lot from this . We dont win or lose the league based on this game But it showed we still are 2nd favs at best by same distance. also Lukaku himself is not the problem but the way he and Timo were utilised both are average technically so having them play together for the first time from the start esp as the only two attackers was very optimistic. They are limited in ways which make it hard flr them to function together without extensive practice . Also they are not exactly known for creating chances without a player to link midfield and attack like Kai or Puli so what did TT expect ? We looked and played like Burnley. Really not acceptable now to approach the next big game in a similar fashion

He is entitled to maximize profit while his stock is at its peak but we will not become a legend anywhere then. It is a trade-off. I think Toni is massively overestimating himself tho. His 9 months of world class form are unprecedented in his career and IMO only possible bc of Tuchel and his resolute 3-4-3. Albeit he is arguably the most important piece of that back 3 as he has a unique role, he is not irreplacable. Players with his physical and technical characteristics exist and are on the market. Also never forget that Jogi Löw tried Rüdiger in the exact same position in a back 3 at the euros and he sucked balls, was possibly worse than Hummels and definitely worse than Ginter. I don't see him ever replicating the type of performances he enjoys under TT.
