CLAUDIO RANIERI is desperate to avoid a Champions League showdown with former club Chelsea. The Juventus boss ensured his side finished top of Group H last night with a goalless draw against BATE Borisov.
But that means Ranieri could now be handed a last 16 clash with the Blues, who had to settle for second place in their group.
And the Italian, who bossed for four years until his sacking in 2004, said: "The strongest would have to be Chelsea.
"But if we have to face them at some stage we might as well eliminate them at once.
"It depends on you how you are at the time. If you are in form and your opponents are not having chances to win, names don't matter."
