I think people are forgetting he is also a winger. He would be able to provide cover at right back if Bosingwa gets injured and also play on the wing. He's a very versatile player that would be able to cover those positions well, a lot like Zhirkov. I'd be very happy to have him.

No he won't. I guarantee he will sign a new contract, even if we do sign Benayoun. It's just the papers making up stories. They realise there's a good player that has the smallest chance of leaving because he is yet to sign a new contract and they pounce.

No one has said anything about selling Joe Cole. Cole is often injured, Benayoun would be a good squad player to cover him!
