Again he was playing the most advanced of the 3 in the 4-(3)-3, not at RW, there is a difference playing on the right of a midfield 3 and having a touchline role at RW. The square ball to DD was a run from midfield down the centre, caused from a great ball from lampard. The goal against Barca was from him playing right back and again was the use of his pace from a great ball from Lampard. As the man above me said as well. Ramires is a central midfielder whose main strength is his stamina as he is an amazing box to box player. He can definately play there if we need him but imo we will not be utilizing the best of ramires in that position and i would like to see what someone like marin can do in his preferred position and leave Ramires at RW as a backup idea. But ramires should definately feature with a role in th midfield even if he is not a guarenteed starter like last year.

He rarely ever played RW last season. For 90% of the season we played a 4-3-3, and he was in the midfield being the most advanced of the 3. He can play there, though i highly doubt he will.

Thats because we rarely played this system and also there is a massive personnel change, to enable us to play this system more efficiently. Dont get me wrong i think Ramires is an integral part of this team and his stamina and engine is second to none. I am simply saying under this new system with all the personnel changes i doubt he will start most games. Just my opinion, i cant wait to find out anyway. It wont be all attack atttack attack. In a 4-3-3 we have 4 men on the attack with support from the wings. So it would be exactly the same and wouldn't be all attack as with the exception of A cole roaming forward at times the back 5 will sit in.

I doubt if he will play on the right in a 4-2-3-1. Becuase the idea is that it is supposed to allow movement of the front 4 and let them attack, with the two in behind to cover. Wheras Marin is an out and out winger, and if we were to buy hulk then he would be guarenteed to start there.

Where will he play? I agree he is one of our best players... He isn't a winger, and is most effective central... Cant play CAM because of Mata, and he cant play in the 2 deep positions beacuse he likes to roam forward to much, and the idea of a 4-2-3-1 is to be solid and allow the front 4 to roam. So unless we switch to a 4-3-3- which i don't think we should do its hard to see where he can play, as much as i rate the guy.

Yep, and when its lampard as well who is the biggest legend this club has, you especially don't ditch them. And lampard is better than both those united pricks.

Yes he is unproven etc, but he has made it into the brazil team, so they most think he has something, as its not like they don't have any other options that could play there, Lampard could well get the nod ahead of him but either way he would have a role to play.

Still don't see why signing a good quality prospect can be a bad thing. We may not need another cm/Cam as the highest priority but everyone loved the idea of modric. I personally would love to see him here. If reports are to be believed as well a few more of our midfield could be leaving and a lot of our youngsters going out on loan.

Totally agree, especially when he still has great quality. The only downside is his age, but he is still one of the fittest players there is, so who cares how old he is. He can still sit on the bench when he is 40, if he can chip in 10 goals a season.

Oscar is better than Raul merieles and suits the type of formation we want to play. Ramires is better imo but we cant play him in those 2 deep roles, and as much as i love Super frank, he wont be able to play every game, though i do expect him to be starting a lot of games as he is still IMO one of our best players . Mikel is the obvious defensive option in the 2. We can also move him forward. If we get him then there is no way he will play wide right, though he can play CAM. if we bought him, given he starts for razil i would fully expect him to be a starter/main rotation as many players will have big roles with the amount of games we have to play in a season.

TBH i cant see us getting hulk atm with or without him. i think the 2 signings are basically mutually exclusive with the exception of the amount of money spent which we know from past experience doesn't seem to be that much of a problem for roman. I think Porto are asking too much and Roman likes to splash the cash though isn't stupid. You don't get that rich by making stupid decisions.

He is thought to be our replacement to possibly having modric with the ability to hold in a DP role or in a CAM role. He is a great young talent and with it being a bit of a gamble if he takes to the prem could be the next best thing. Better that than tottenham get him for cheap and he turns out to be an amazing star. From what i have seen as limited to several clips on youtube and some brazil matches i have seen, he has great talent and even better potential, and it cant do any harm to have him in our squad.
