Oscar is being left out for the simple reason of Mata is obviously not getting moved, and we are extremely narrow on the right without a proper winger there. He can play CM, though if we are gonna buy a CM, which everyone hopes we do, then they would get played in their primary position (especially given as this is all hypothetical, and everyone is hoping that Modric, or whoever is signed, in which case you can't play Modric and Oscar in the pivot as that is suicidal. If we bought Bender/de rossi/ Witsel, then Oscar could play alongside them in there. Its also hypothetical, most of the players mentioned won't ever wear a chelsea shirt. When we know what we actually will have to work with for next season then i am sure these will all change drastically.

He is kind of in a bad situation where he is on one of the few teams were he won't be able to play his favourite position. I don't think we can keep playing him on the right wing as a regular thing, so adapting him to more of a CM, may be the best way to get him into the first 11. It may not utilise all his skills, but Mata, is only 24 and still getting better and is just something else so i can't see him really getting that spot of him any time soon. Could play CM, then AM when Mata is rested or whatever.

Honestly now Lewy, Falcao, and probably Cavani are not gonna happen, i would rather see us properly invest in a high quality CM like Modric, and just take the leap of faith and stick this guy up top. Rather than buying an overpriced above average striker. If Cavani is available, then that would be the best option but otherwise, why spend 20 mil on someone who may not be that much better than what we have and may just get in the way. Take the chance. Modric, KDB, Oscar, Mata, Hazard would be some supply line, and the guy has already shown he has a lot of abilty. Throw him in the deep end, and see if he sinks or swims. Could be one of the best things we do.

Depends on what you mean by that? Do we need an actual Defensive midfielder ala Mikel? No, but if we don't have one we need players who contribute to the defence in some way. And are more Box to box type, who will go back and put effort in om both ends of the pitch. It's not necessary. But i think we would be better with one. Someone big strong in there to sit there alongside a good DLP would me my ideal combination, and should provide a much more efficent transition from defence to attack.

Haven't read the whole last page. But do you really think, one of the greatest managers in the world will dismiss Mata for lampard. You know why he favoured Lampard over Joe Cole and fit the team around him... Because he was one of the top 3 midfielders in the world. Joe Cole was good and had his moments but was never one of the greatest. And comparing him to Mata, is just crazy because their totally different players, and Mata has so much more capability in him. Why is there this underlining assumption that apparently Jose only wants to come here to reminisce about the past and joke about with Lamps, terry, cole, essien etc. He knows what he is talking about and i am sure will do what he thinks is best for the club. Lampard will still have a role to play. But that is not something that would be just down to Mourinho as most coaches would want Lampard in their team in some capacity.
