Yet we have not lost a home game all season? The only thing that has stopped them from scoring is their profligacy in front of goal.
-
John Terry is being given the run around. But guess what, it is Gary Cahill's fault
-
Courtois though??

A win is a win but I got a good feeling we are going to put on a display today. Newcastle have a few absentees, we are at home and have had a good week of where Fabregas and Hazard did not even play a minute. Our team is completely refreshed and as Holland was saying in the PC, this is probably the best period we have had to prepare our tactics and he said we could not be in better preparation. I hope to see a few goals today.
-
We are but can you have pride in that? All the work our team from the youth set up put in to see these players not make it. Mourinho has even admitted the importance of having players come through.
-
The only problem I have is that we have invested heavily on the youth academy and none of them are making the breakthrough. Courtois and Sturridge are good examples of how the loan system has worked for us but since we have one of the best youth academies in Europe it would be good to see at least one come through and be a major part of the team. This is what has not happened. With some of the talent we have in our youth teams it will be hugely disappointing to not see some of them make it through to the first team. Especially the likes of Boga and RLC.

If you got such a provocative message to say like you did regarding the shed end forum compared to this one why are you here and if you were not trying to be provocative why would you write what you did?
-
Why don't you stop being a prat and use common sense? Do you really think if I wrote who should of taken the penalty, Lampard or Drogba against Wigan, that people would have said Drogba? No, because the majority of people mentioned that situation in the thread anyway and stated Lamps was the right choice so don't go on as if it is misleading because it would have led to the same conclusion. Believe me, you are in a minority who thinks Drogba should have taken that penalty and you are only saying that to suit your own agenda. And let's get the record straight, I used Hazard and Costa not only to compare but I just wanted opinions about what people would want in a similar scenario. This is a forum in the end of the day and we discuss and that is why I started the thread and there was a lot of decent discussion. It was not at all to be deceptive. I could have simply just wrote about: 'was Lampard right to take the penalty instead of Drogba?' but I wanted to expand and compare a possible scenario with our current crop of players. Hypocrite alright... you claimed I am putting words into your mouth and being deceptive? Yet you have just done the same. You stated that I said Drogba is a selfish palyer. Did I say he is a selfish player or did i infact say he was being selfish at the time? Read, interpret and then reply please next time. But, yeah we are not reaching anywhere I guess. You can't seem to see where you were wrong. This is all started because you stated that Lamps was selfish because of that incident. I never denied that Lamps was a selfish person. I disagreed with your Wigan example and no matter how much people's opinions have changed on Lampard, Drogba was in the wrong there. Yes.
-
I used the case of Hazard and Costa because they are current Chelsea players. Hazard our prime penalty taker and Costa our top goalscorer. So I made a debate about a similar scenario. Anyway I clearly linked that to the Lampard/Drogba situation to create more room for discussion and even then people said Lampard was in the right and Drogba was in the wrong. Look, we are some what pissed at Lampard. I feel sorry for NYCFC in all of this the most tbh but stop trying to use ridiculous examples to back up your point. It is obvious that we are not going to agree on this. You clearly think that the player is bigger than the club. I think the club comes before the player and that is why I think Drogba was the seflish one, you think Lampard was. Everyone or the majority of Chelsea fans know Lampard was in the right there. And no that is not an example of Lampard's selfish ways, that is nonsense.
-
I am getting personaly by stating "it comes across as silly"? That is hardly personal. You are not a baby are you? Yes, maybe Lampard is a selfish person. I never disputed that. I disputed the fact that you were using the Wigan game as evidence to prove he is selfish. That is why I said you are 'clutching at straws'. I opened up that thread to see what other fans would have expected Lamps to do and guess what the majority agreed with me. So let me reiterate, accusing Lamps of being selfish is one thing. But stating that the Wigan game proved how selfish he was is riduculous and silly imo. I don't no why you believe because I said it was silly, that I am being personal. That is how it comes across to me. Read the thread and you will realise that people actually thought Lampard was in the right and Drogba in the wrong but because Lampard hurt a lot of our fans, you are using anything to have a dig at him. The penalty situation regarding Drogba is poor example.

The season still has got a long way to go. Yes, Schurrle has been poor but people are like Jekyll and Hyde on here. They are all up on Schurrle's arse when he was scoring for the club and NT and now that he has got off to a slow start since being back people want to write him off. In the long run, Schurrle might just be an added bonus for us and I reckon we will appreciate having him in the squad. Please don't compare Marin and Moses to Schurrle. Schurrle is much better than both but is just low on confidence right now and is not playing well. Nasri had a similar situation with City but with time improved and played well. No reason why Schurrle cannot do the same. If people really think we can just sell Schurrle and think Salah can easily fill in, then they don't have a clue. Just because he has done 'nothing' this season which is not true anyway, there is no reason to think he cannot gain form later on in the season.

Negredo and Aguero played many games together. They were considered one of the most lethal partnership in Europe and scored bagful of goals together. They scored over 20 goals together with both of them in the same team. Of course they can do the same with Bony otherwise they would not be spending £30m on him now considering the FFP so they are going to be careful who they splash big money on. Bony and Aguero, on paper looks a lethal partnership.
-
I stated you cannot say he is selfish for refusing to allow Drogba to take the penalty. I get the other Lampard abuse etc but when you are clutching at straws to prove your point, it comes across silly. Anyway I think that thread proves who the majority agree with.
-
He won't start every game but he will start enough. City are a bigger club who are competing for the major trophies. Dzeko, when fit was getting criticized. Right now, Bony is ahead of Dzeko in the pecking order for City. IMO he is better as well. City will have Bony and Aguero as the two up front in many games. Jovetic is good but not good enough compared to Dzeko and Bony. What they are getting in Bony is a player who is a proven PL goalscorer. His hold up play and all round play will suit Aguero well. Perfectly understandable, especially considering that Aguero is some what injury prone. Remember when Negredo was there, how many games he started and scored. They have not properly replaced him and imo Bony is better than Negredo anyway.

Koscielny is a very good defender but there is no defender like Terry who has that organisation, leadership qualities and complete domination. Koscielny may work well with Terry but without Terry I reckon we would struggle. Terry is just a rock.
-
Lampard let Drogba take the penalty against Wigan however then he had already scored. It would have been interesting to see if he had not scored because you are right there are players like Ronaldo who will want to take the penalty no matter what. I remember Real had a game last season and Bale scored 2 and was on a hattrick but Penaldo took the penalty because he wanted to score. Really he could have just let Bale take the penalty but his individual needs came first.
-
With the "let them decide" I meant as in a situation like the game against Wigan. Drogba wanted to take it and they had a little discussion. Lampard could have allowed Drogba to take it during that discussion but rightfully refused to. So if it got to a similar situation I am saying should we leave it to them two to discuss it themselves. People seem to state Hazard over Costa because of Costa's penalty misses before. However what if Costa had a decent conversion rate for Atletico. For instance took 5/6 for them and converted them all. Is that a good enough reason to let him take the penalty over our no.1 penalty taker?
-
Imagine to yourselves that Costa had a good penalty conversion rate. Similar to Drogba's or so, would you feel he should take the penalty in this instance? I personally would still want to see Hazard take it. Players always say that the team comes first so I still feel it should be no different.
-
LOL, yet Kosciely had a nightmare in his last PL outing himself. Koscielny is a very good defender but has made several errors himself. He leads the list iirc for the amount of penalties conceded. Koscielny is not helped by the two CM in front of him and neither was Cahill.
-
What was Drogba's penalty record like before that game? Had he even took much? He took some after which I know off but not before that game. Costa could have scored all his penalties for Atletico but I still would want Hazard as the penalty taker.
-
Alright. Little debate me and CMS have been having in the Lampard thread. When we beat Wigan a few seasons ago 8-0 to win the league title under Ancelotti, CMS believes Lampard showed signs of selfishness. We were 1-0 up at the time and we had a penalty to make it 2-0. This was a must win game, otherwise United would have won the title. Anyway Drogba wanted to take the penalty as he was aiming for the top goalscorer award and threw a little strop because Lampard, the designated and most reliable penalty taker refused and he took it himself which he converted. CMS believes this is proof of how selfish Lampard is. I disagree as I state it is club before player. We had plenty of minutes remaining to score more goals and for Drogba to achieve that personal award which he ended up doing. We also got another penalty in that game which Lampard had no problem in letting Drogba take as the game was secured by then. So now I want to have a little debate. I am trying to create a poll and by the time I post this I hope the poll is created but it is a little confusing for me. But anyway I want to see opinions on this now. We go into our last game of the season 1 point ahead of City. City have a easy fixture on paper against Aston Villa at home while we have a game against West Brom. We are 1-0 up and have a penalty in the 32nd minute. Costa needs a goal or 2 to assure him of the top goalscorer award. Who do we let take the penalty in this instance considering the game is by no means over? Hazard because he is our usual penalty taker or Costa because he wants his personal aim of being the top scorer and recieving the golden boot award? I would choose Hazard because in the end of the day this is about Chelsea and I don't think we should be fiddling about with penalty duties just so Costa can be guaranteed of that top goalscorer award. It is only 30 minutes gone and there is bound to be more chances for Costa in the game anyway and if he misses now we are playing a dangerous game. For that reason the designated penalty taker, Hazard is my choice to take the penalty over Costa no matter what the circumstances are. Who would you choose to take the penalty?
-
Please don't doubt my credibility as a Chelsea fan. I have been supporting them long about that. I am not getting personal and apologize if you feel that way but you said I was disrespecting a Chelsea legend which annoyed me. A 1-0 Chelsea lead is never or has been guaranteed. We just were very effective at not losing the lead. Ask the majority of people on here please if in that situation who they would want to take the penalty. Don't patronize me please about that 'any true Chelsea' fan rubbish. Now that is trying to get personal isn't it? Who are you to tell me or any other Chelsea fans how they should emotionally respond during a game. Don't go there please. You are player over club. I am club over player. Fair? But you know what let's create this poll and see what people think actually. Good idea. The poll is up to discuss mate. http://forum.talkchelsea.net/topic/19672-who-takes-the-penalty-hazard-or-costa/#entry1034886
