  1. There is no time tho. I don't see ANY manager in the world coming here and sorting this shit. Team does not even physically compete against other teams... other players look fitter/quicker like today. I think at this point it goes beyond mentality, and a locker room speech. Even more reason to question what was going on before, but it will takes at least a couple of months to get this team running again--and only with the right people behind prepping the team with time. So, only next season. Now, thinking about next season, then getting the right person is more important than getting them here earlier. I too have zero confidence in the owner. Looks like footballing culture wasn't a thing he knew, or cared about, and thought his way was better.
  2. Agreed. That was my point to @Tomo on a diff thread. Relegation chance is negligible, CL looks like a pipe dream at this point, and we are still paying him... he's not going to make that kind of money anytime soon, so he will be on a long vacation. Tbf, it takes at least a few weeks w/ plenty of training time (which we don't have) to start getting some ideas imprinted in a team -- not that Lampard has that many good ideas as a manager... his resume is just as scant as Potter's.
  3. I was so wrong... turns out Potter did not quite manage to turn into Brighton. For starters, Brighton players run all the time.
  4. I understand that we are talking about promise at times, which is subjective, but I just don't see enough tangible experience in Potter's prior work to warrant the opportunity he's got. Potter is still making more money than he ever made before--and likely he will make anytime soon, so could just have kept him doing whatever he was doing before. The prior work part notoriously affects the sway the manager has with the players. Makes sense to keep an interim at this point until the "right" manager becomes available, or can be made available. I have no trust in the current owner tho... arrogant and lost at the same time--a pretty bad combo.
  5. Always thought Potter would make a great interim manager until a real manager arrived. 😅
  6. Good play by mount tho -- top defender on the other end 😢
  7. James is facing the best winger in the world atm, who's in top form (we aren't). So, not really surprising he's struggling defensively. A good manager would've handled that better, but suppose that's not the case eh. Can't think of a single player we've got who is playing at their normal. They are all below what they've done in recent past.
  8. We need a Kepa emoji (you know what it is). As someone how likes him as a player, have to say that that was a boneheaded move by chilwell--he should have known he was on a yellow. Let the guy take the shot! he may miss, trip, a miracle can happen and Kepa stops it.... we'd still be playing with 11 players for much of the second half.
  9. Sorry, I can understand the lack of finishing as an argument at times, but not today. We are just not producing anywhere near well enough to cause a team like Real any problems. No team produces 2 chances and scores 2 goals, well unless you play against Kepa maybe? 😅 still there is nothing good from this performance. Real are better in every area, and in every skill of the game. Worst players for me were Kepa and Felix.
  10. A better goalie could have stopped that one too. Oh well... not like we deserve anything better. They will prob beat us at Stanford playing like this.
  11. great result considering the performance. Would be hopeful for the second leg had we been playing football this season.
  12. yeah CMs can't do a whole lot if they don't get the support from the rest of the team. D has to close the lines, and yeah the Forwarders need to work hard -- run like a "dog" like someone used to say. That's why players like Werner can be useful at times... games like these.
  13. we still can't press high at all... this is turning ugly.
  14. Felix needs to wake the fuck up... weak performance so far. Not a game for that shit. Was referring to him miscontrolling the football in midfield leading to a dangerous counter, btw
  15. Was about to yell at my tv (aka sterling) when I saw the replay: what a save by the snake incredible stuff
  16. The difference right now is goalies. One is a decent goalie for a mid table team, while the other is the best in the world.
  17. yeah I'd have gone the other way with Kai first, then felix against tired legs, but I see Felix as a more conservative/defensive approach. His quick feet to help control possession.
  18. You can tell he's new to the whole thing... man. 🤦‍♂️ Kai dropped! which makes sense as for me only one between him and Felix should play.
  19. That happens because of the bubble. City suffers from that to some degree--of course PL is much stronger, and they have so much quality that they will eventually win CL. The bubble exists because the strengths of a team built to be effective against weaker sides can be very different from the qualities needed to beat the stronger sides, esp in single elim games. We beat City without suffering too much in that CL final, but we could play PL 10 times and they would still come out the winners. Bayern does not face strong opposition in Germany... Dortmund, with its flamboyant style at times, but not really. There are players too who are meant for CL, while others do better in the cadence of a long championship. Few clubs in the world can compete in both fronts.
  20. My comment wasn't about this season, but a more generic one. disagree. Tuchel just arrived and this has very little, almost nothing, to do with him. City will beat them in Germany too, because they are that much better. Honestly, don't think much of their starting XI tbh... Would like Musiala and more for the promise than what he currently can deliver. Sane must be a German joke, which escapes me.
  21. In my view both Kai and Felix have the same weakness: which in the area of work rate, team work, discipline. They both turn on and off on a dime, but I feel Felix is a bit worse here. Felix is more skillful (quick feet) and creative, while Kai makes better runs and can, on occasion, even impose physically becoming a presence in the box (wish he were better at heading the ball tho). They are also at the same age, which is a good and yet tricky age for a footballer at this level. It's hard to tell which one has the higher ceiling at this time. Kai happens to be our player, and Felix's availability is a big unknown. I'd keep one, because I think it will be difficult to play both at the same time and they are big enough players who would demand to start. I'm unsure which one tho. Hope the club knows better.
  22. Don't think anyone is suggesting not having ambition, but you've got to handle better opposition smarty. Underdog stories rarely ever include flamboyant attacking teams. They are better and are in better form than we are. We have managerial problems, gaping holes in the team, and I'd like to add a fitness deficit too (the best teams run more than we do). Not acknowledging this just makes it easier for Real. Disrupt their play. Do some high press--which we haven't been able to do all season--this time, or we will lose. Let them walk with the football up to midfield and then feed their wingers, and the ball will eventually reach Benzema. It's that simple.
  23. That only shows the difference in quality between City and Bayern at this moment. Bayern play in their little budesliga bubble and only get tested when they come out to play with the big boys... that's when the managers get sacked lol. I don't like this Bayern team very much tbh. Lots of older players who should've moved on, never beens, and younger players who aren't yet.
  24. Can't argue with that. Why would we play with Azpi *and* Cucurella? I mean I hope Azpi sits for this one. Vinicius will demand someone with pace to cover Reece's runs tho even if we pin Reece at the back (which would be a waste).
