If you guys really think Oscar has the physical tools to be a box to box midfielder in Jose's system then you haven't been paying attention. NO WAY IN HELL WILL OSCAR PLAY A BOX TO BOX ROLE FOR JOSE!!! NEVER!!!
-
Hope he stays with the squad this year. If he can truly play RB we can move Ivanovic back to CB and have him deputize Cesar.
-
I have to admit to not following this kid too much. I don't know much about him but from what I've seen from the youtube vids???!!! My Lord! We got a fabulous prospect on our hands! He's HUGE! looks a superior athlete, gets up higher than everyone when contesting aerials and seems to be very combative! I am intrigued to see what we do with him this year, judging by my limited viewing I wouldn't mind him here as our 3/4 CB, could be the steal of the decade if he reaches the heights I feel he can.

You have no way of knowing anything so please stop embarrassing yourself. We have a striker now so there may be less of a need for the most perfect pass to open up a defense. Also I would imagine in those situations, if they occur, we would likely go 4-1-4-1 with Fab AND Oscar patrolling in the middle.
-
He's what? 22? 23 at the beginning of the season? He should well know the rigours of the Prem and Jose's system now and hopefully this term he will pace himself accordingly. Also, perhaps management will utilize him more effectively knowing that his fitness levels aren't quite able to endure 8-9 months of high level football. Both are responsible for form not just Oscar. If he doesn't have a decent year this year I would say he isn't quite cut out for the job and we may need to look another way.
-
IF!! Not When... You're putting the cart before the horse again. He will create chances, not at a clip similar to Mata for example, but what you get from him at both ends makes him more valuable.

EVERY TEAM IN WORLD FOOTBALL STRUGGLE WITH THIS! This is a problem for EVERYONE! Remember the greatest Barca XI in the history struggling to breakdown 10 man Chelsea? If teams do play like that against us its not because our no.10 is shit, its because it extremely hard for teams to find the exact amount of space to carve them open. It usually occurs when they make a mistake, and if you don't have the striker who can bury a chance once its presented then that only compounds the problem. You guys claim to watch a lot of football but you need to get a dose of reality. We didn't have a striker, haven't had one since Drogba. Our main problems stem from this not the players who play behind Torres, Ba, Eto,o
-
I'm confused? Did Oscar not also score 8 prem league goals on a goal starved team? I believe he was only behind Eto'o and Hazard who was also on penalty duty... You're embarrassing yourself dude.
-
All you guys like Lionsden and The Mak need to take a step back and look at the situation before you start jumping to conclusions unnecessarily. Oscar just completed his 2nd full year in Europe for his 3rd manager. He never had a full training camp here and clearly didn't have the fitness levels required to play in Jose's midfield for an entire season. Is that so hard to grasp? That he didn't prepare well enough for the demands of Mourinho? He is a fantastic player who was running on E long before the season was over. If he comes back this year incapable of coping with the demands, then and only then will you have a case. Jose also benched Schurrle at the beginning of the year because he wasn't fit enough to play for Chelsea.
-
I don't get why people have this hate on for Ramires. He is a fucking fantastic squad player! The kind of guy you would love to have come off your bench and disrupt things... If we buy Pogba that doesn't mean Ramires is surplus to requirements, they do different jobs on the pitch
-
The first thing Oscar needs to do is hit the gym for a summer. He's too lightweight and its effecting his form and fitness for a season. The game is moved towards pace and power and if your fitness isn't there, you will struggle to find a consistent level. Comparing him to others is ridiculous though, his temperament is completely different. He works extremely hard in his role as 10 and you can see why everyone loves him.
-
I worded that wrong. Pogba is twice the player hulk and Fellaini are and the reason his price is so inflated is because the chances of getting him again once sold will be close to never. He is an incredible talent and potentially a world beater in the next few years, its so clear to see that.
-
Or other start talking foolish and painting everyone with the same brush. Paul Pogba is nothing close to Hulk or Fellaini in terms of his potential and ability give me a freaking break.
-
You have to be careful with Stars from everywhere, more specifically people in general. The league doesn't matter its about the make up of the individual. You say Pastore and I say Balotelli, Silva, Ibrahimovic. It is always a gamble but for a talent like Paul Pogba, and yes I do believe he is one of the few legit box to box midfielders in the world, its a risk I'm willing to take. Jose, if anything at all knows how to train box to box midfielders and I doubt he'd have to work too hard with a specimen like Pogba. Fantastic prospect, if the board deem it within their powers to sign him I will not have any problem with it regardless of the price. I challenge anyone to come up with a couple names that surpass that of Paul Pogba's.
-
No, if anyone expects that the purchase of Pogba, regardless the fee, has anything to do with the here and now they need to get their heads examined. Paul is likened to Viera and Yaya at the age of 21!!! That is extremely high praise for a player still learning his craft! Under the tutelage of Jose Mourinho, Paul can develop into the best at his position in a few years. £60m is a lot of cash but Paul is already performing at a high level(champions league, Serie A standout, World Cup) The opportunity to acquire such a talent only happens ONCE and if we lose out on him to the likes of Real, PSG or City for example we will rue the day. If you look around the world today their aren't that many players around that possess TRUE box to box skill anymore. Many are either attackers forced to sit or defenders with poor offensive ability. In Paul we will get a 21yr old box to box mid with his best years not even yet approaching, yet still playing at an extremely level. Sky is the limit, its as plain as day that Pogba is destined to be a world beater.
-
Much too good to be true so I'm just gonna say it doesn't happen but of all the players we're linked to he's the one I most want. 21 and already a fucking boss.
-
Just hope its true. Too much potential and ability for us not to want him. 100% a Jose type player.
-
DeBruyne was well rested this season, Eden well tired... These guys aren't super human, its takes an extremely special kind of endurance to keep up a high level of performance for 9 months. Try being more realistic about what the mind and body can truly take people.
-
Hazard looked EXTREMELY tired and uninterested all tournament. I think the Prem took a toll on him, its an extremely long season.
-
Q-finals of a tournament like the World Cup is where you want your marquee players to leave an impression. Want to see Eden play with fire and passion today!
-
If Pogba and/or Vidal want to be world stars they will have to leave Juve Its too small a league. Juve is good but they can't offer the wages or the competitiveness to keep those types of players. I'd be astonished if they manage to keep both of them after the World Cup is done. The Italian league isn't very prestigious because there is barely any competition. Juve have done well to build a great team but to say that history will make world stars want to play in a second rate league on less wages makes you sound like you've had too many Steins. If an offer of 40m+ comes in for either of them, Juve would have a hard time trying to turn it down.
-
SO what? if you want WORLD CLASS level you pay WORLD CLASS prices!! 32m is a good buy for a 20 goal league scorer.
-
That would be fantastic! I'd also take 6 more in the champions league! We don't need 30, just 20-25 of the right goals. If he scores 10 match winners that would be incredible.
-
One thing that I'm fully intrigued by is the boom/bust aspect of this signing. We essentially got Costa at 32M and about a year or two before, if he continues to progress, that price doubles. It is an interesting risk and also the type of move that could look genius in a few years. We were rumoured to be in for Cavani who went for €64m and also Falcao who went for £51m, these guys were expensive because they had at least two years of playing at an elite level and were into the prime of their careers. With Costa turning 26 in October, we get him right before he potentially becomes a world beater! Falcao's move to Atletico was his breakout year and Cavani's was his move to Napoli, with Costa I will be paying close attention to whether or not he continues with the pattern set out by the aforementioned. Firm believer if we get 75% of the player he was in La Liga we will win the league quite comfortably.

Or maybe there just isn't any journos in the know?
