He wasn't happy with playing Azpi out of position that was out of necessity... What he wants is balance down both flanks. With Luis and Azpi you get similar characteristics and the ability to win the ball in excellent areas to counter attack. I could be wrong, not professing to be a know it all I just think Jose is the type of manager who thinks about building stability from the back to build attacks. Luis provides that and also has the ability to get forward if the need presents itself.

We will see... I have a feeling you guys are gonna be disappointed if you think this acquisition will lead to more help for Hazard going forward.

Coentrao was also injured. What I'm saying is Marcelo and Jose obviously didn't see eye to eye but for lack of an alternative Marcelo was played. Are you really contesting that the two of them didn't get along? Moot point anyway, if your only example of Jose not preferring his FB's to stay home is Marcelo its not exactly the most compelling argument. Having said that when you look at Luis you will see precisely what Jose wants in a FB, ball winning ability. If he gets forward it will be on a need basis and for the most part its not a need, we play counter attack against bigger teams and in most of the small games we were able to get the result with our front 4 plus one Mid. All I can tell you guys is based on what I've been told by Nick Dasovic and what I saw in one of Jose's dossier(He has one for every player in the XI but it highlights the tactical deployment of every player on the pitch) FB's don't bomb on at will unless the need is there. 20mins left in a game with no real incision. We will see more quality because Brana wasn't the best attacker, but the deployment won't change all that much. Azpi was moved to the LB position because he provided better coverage for Hazard than the now slow footed Ashley Cole. He will now go back to his natural position and with Luis will provide us with two ball winning FB's who win the ball in excellent areas to initiate counter attacks.

Not even an argument really. I just don't think we're gonna see much variation from what we've seen in the past, there may be more quality but nota complete abandonment from what Jose normally does.

The season I'm speaking of specifically was 2011-2012 where Coentrao played in more of the Champs league games and also the clasico. I can't remember if Marcelo was injured though to be honest.

This particular Brazilian actually likes to put in a tackle. If any of you could find me another LB who wins the ball up field with 4.1 tackles and nearly 2 interceptions then you may be onto something. Azpi was great out of position but now with Luis we have proper balance down both flanks, two guys capable of winning the ball in dangerous areas and initiating the counter.

It's not a matter of choosing Costa over Lukaku, we own both. It's about the attributes each brings to the table and if lukaku does stay he could be a valuable change of pace guy if he has his head right.
