Its not so much his fitness as it is giving minutes to people who haven't received much this season. We don't need him to play this game and those types of games are few and far between. Give Schurrle a chance to find his form before he's thrust into the holiday season without much actual game time.

Would love to have him. Proper box to box midfielder and he's really young... If it can be done we need to do it.

We need to take the opportunities to keep our regular starters fresh. I'd rest Hazard personally...

Not so sure we can't get through Derby with our squad players. Zouma, Cech, Luis, Schurrle, Remy should be able to play in this game and get the right result.

No you don't have to be but you would need to possess incredible strength and fantastic leaping ability, two things Ake doesn't really have. Precisely why making comparisons like you have made make no sense.

What does Carles Puyol have to do with Ake? The laziest thing you can do as a football fan is look at one player and assume that because so and so made it so can so and so. Ake and Puyol have nothing in common whatsoever. Ake will either be our young LB or our DM, that's what he's being groomed for under Jose.

Arsenal have ALWAYS given their youth players chances with varying levels of success. You sight Fabregas, a player of unrivalled pedigree who left La Masia to seek out first team football. I have no problem with giving youth players a chance and I don't think Jose does either but in the right situation like Zouma is getting. We have a young team as it is and many players not just youth teamers are fighting to get into a squad that performs at a high level. Who do you propose of our squad players is less deserving of a Q-finals knockout game than some of our youth players? Mikel, who likely won't even make the bench? Ramires, still looking for full fitness? Salah, who hasn't been given much of an opportunity? Yes its a cup game in the q-finals, youth players should get look-ins during meaningless games like 6-0 vs maribor or sporting lisbon matchday 6. I would also give them look ins at the early stages of the cup competitions which a few of them did get. Lets face it opportunities are scarce when your aim is to win everything, you have to climb above players who are in the eyes of the manager day after day earning his trust, its not exactly the easiest feat. We aren't Arsenal, we are in competitions with the goal of winning them not to give youth a chance to play.

But Luis and Schurrle ARE getting a look in, they just haven't proven to be better than the regulars. Its all about making the most out of the opportunities given to you, the manager needs to know he can trust you in every situation. In Schurrle's case he hasn't done that and Luis' he hasn't been better than Azpili... The youth have to prove to be top level not just academy grads. If they're given the chance they have to perform at a high level. Ake is doing that when given chances and he will play more...

Oh they will, it will be up to them to take their chances though. Very high level we're competing at, they have to show they're ready in order to get chances.

Really excited to see Ruben Loftus-Cheek tomorrow! That is massive for Chelsea to see a kid who's been in the club since 8 get a chance to play at the bridge in Champions League! Everyone crying about academy players not getting a chance need to listen to Jose's PC today. "Youth can only get promoted when you have stability in management." Jose is bang on and I expect to see a lot more academy kids getting through the next few years.
