The selections seem to have been forced on Lamps. He mentioned Tomori has been carrying a hip niggle for a while. Maybe that's why Zouma and AC got games? Emerson had a bad showing at City and Azpi started in his place. I think there has been good coaching to get us from Sarri's plodding football to the football we see now and the dip in recent results cannot understate that we have made very good progress under Lamps. He is certainly no Ole or Ljungberg and seems to have a clearer idea of how he wants his team to play. The goals we are conceding are completely avoidable and not pointing to a structural issue with the team.

Borderline. He is a good player. The best thing about Ake is he is comfortable with the ball at his feet. So often when we play out of the back, someone like Ake would thrive in that position I think. He can also fill in at left-back and defensive midfield and seems available which makes this all appealing. But I would rather sign a top CB and top LB if they are available.

Spurs is a genuine worry. They have a decent enough team to keep picking up points. Not worried about United (or Arsenal LOL). United are strong in games against the big six. They are set up to defend and counter. They beat Chelsea, City, Spurs, Leicester (which was an odd game IIRC) and drew with Arsenal, Liverpool. But they will struggle when they have to create chances while having plenty of possession. We should be able to hold off the chasers though. Not because we are any good. But because they are all having their own set of problems and over the course of the season, it will show. One purple patch will mean nothing

I don't think we need to try and fit Azpi in at CB. That will have its own learning curve and we don't have the luxury to do that. Would rather go with Rudiger and Tomori as first-choice until one of Christensen or Zouma are replaced
