Some of Lampard's recent comments are interesting. Particularly referencing 2003. I remember Lampard's said previously that he was on the bench for the first Champions League game in 2003 and he had a word with someone on the bench (I think Terry) grumbling about how they got Chelsea to the Champions League and now the new players like Veron, Makelele were starting. But then these two raised their game to another level because of the competition. Seems like he's looking to do that with this generation - Mount, CHO, Gilmour - hopefully if they raise their game (both due to playing with technically more confident players and through their own progress) we could put together a cracking squad for 20-21
