Its Bayern, Ajax, Real, Lille
or PSG Atleti Sporting Benfica Inter Salzburg Villarreal/Atalanta
No easy teams but finishing top of group was better. 1/4 chance of Bayern now
We can do without losing both AC and Rudi but it wouldn't be the end of the world if they both left. The 3 CB system is perfect for them (especially AC) but if they choose to move on, we could target CBs who can thrive in a back four, change the defensive shape to commit more players forward.
Top - City, Liverpool, ManU, Ajax, Madrid, Bayern, Lille
2nd - PSG, Sporting, Inter, Barca, Villarreal, Salzburg, Porto/Milan/Atleti
I'd rather finish top. There is only one team in that whole list that could be a very tough game - Bayern.
We have a far better chance in the UCL than winning the league. We are struggling to break down some teams in the league but a knockout game is ideal for the likes of Kante, Mount who run endlessly and close down spaces.
About this "Liverpool will wear out" thing, they've been in title races for years now. They finished above us even last year. Liverpool's lack of rotation has not caused them many problems till now and they do have decent backup players who may not be excellent individually but fit the way they play very well - like Tsimikas at LB.
Was it known before this season that Lukaku does not press? I didn't watch him in Italy but whatever little I saw him off his highlights showed he was working his ass off there.
