  1. So, in other words, Hazard's inclusion depends on the availability of Ivanovic? God, we are so screwed! Why did we even let Luis to leave in the summer?! If Mourinho is so concerned about playing Hazard and Baba on the same side, then play the former in the centre or even on the right. It did. But that approach is getting tiresome but judging by this season alone, it's not really working either. A number of players have been criticized but none have really improved. On top of that, the public criticism - if Mourinho really wants to do it - only works if it's justified but in this case, it's not justified. Could just easily tell Hazard (or whoever else) that he's unhappy with this and that behind closed doors and it would likely yield a positive result/response. Doesn't always have to go public with the comments.
  2. I get what you're saying but just because those players were unhappy and sold by Mourinho, it doesn't mean their comments should just be disregarded like yesterday's trash. One could easily say those who spoke well of Mourinho said what they said because they did well under him. Otherwise, they would have likely said the opposite things.
  3. But Hazard is not even bad defensively, is he? Let's not also act as if Mourinho doesn't ask the attacking players to do more defensive work than one normally would. What do you expect when Azpi - a right back is being played out of position at left back? He's not even getting the chance to improve, develop himself and show what he can do - both offensively and defensively - in his natural position on a consistent basis.
  4. Radamel Falcao could be ready to quit Chelsea in January after failing to make an impact for Blues
  5. Mourinho did drop Hazard against Porto a few weeks ago. Main issue here is the reason why he was dropped rather than he was dropped.
  6. Waiting for a retrospective ban from the FA...
  7. For every player that speaks wells about Mourinho, you can easily find those that don't... Yes, we all know that but he doesn't always have to do that. It's become tiresome at this point and considering the number of criticism he's handed out this season alone, one can tell that approach isn't working. He should or needs to mix things up.

  9. Mourinho can criticize Hazard but not for the reasons mentioned. Others have been extremely slack in their defensive work but they have hardly been mentioned in the public but Hazard, who is hardly bad at defending, has been unfairly criticized. Where's the logic in that? In a way, that is true but I don't really buy that. The perceived purpose of public criticism is to see how players react and help them become better. It's basically a challenge for everyone. So, I don't see why that only applies to non-shy personalities. If they are strong enough, they can take it. Public criticism has worked for Hazard before but managers can't keep on doing that, especially when the reason isn't justified. And why does he need to criticize players in the public so often? Are you saying that criticizing them in private won't make them improve and get better? If that's the case, then maybe Mourinho's so called excellent man-management is a myth.
  10. Chelsea win overshadowed by Jose Mourinho's choice to drop Eden Hazard Nail. On. Head. This is a massive understatement but Mourinho really does baffle people with the things he say. We won yesterday - our first win in nearly a month IIRC - and he could have just let that be the headline. But no. He had to go and criticize Hazard for his lack of defensive work when asked why he was on the bench. Could have just said he was rested, he's been playing poorly (which is true) etc but instead, he had to cause some sort of controversy and give the media ammunition to write negative stories about the club. Some might argue that he's challenging Hazard to improve himself but he really could have just done that by talking him to privately. There's no need to say those things in the public! I'm not optimistic that Hazard will stay with us for a long time but if we lose him because he cannot stand Mourinho's constant criticism about his defending - which is mostly unfair when you see the likes of Ivanovic, Fabregas etc have gotten away with it - then Mourinho seriously has plenty to answer. We have a player with the potential to be the best in the world but he's being criticized and held back from becoming better because of defensive work.
  11. Don't get me wrong. I completely agree with what you said there. I'm just trying to offer the perspective from Mourinho's side. Like many here, I wouldn't be so obsessed about Hazard needing to defend if I was the manager. It's holding him back from becoming even better. On another note, it's quite embarrassing that Mourinho is always criticizing offensive players for their lack of defensive work (unless it's Fabregas...) but never defensive players for not defending properly. When asked defenders' mistakes, he will always say it's a team game and he will not blame individuals. But when it comes to attacking players, he will not hesitate to start naming names to the media.
  12. If Hazard was injured, then it would be better off for Mourinho to say just that. But he didn't and he criticized Hazard for his lack of defensive work, which has led to the media pouncing on those comments.
  13. On one hand, it feels like Mourinho is holding Hazard back from reaching the next level by asking him to constantly defend but on the other hand, when you see what players like Sanchez are doing, you can perhaps see why Mourinho said what he said.
  14. But Mourinho has said it was a tactical decision as to why Hazard didn't play. He even explained the reason for it - he's not hardworking enough defensively.
  15. Lose this and our qualification chances will look very bleak. In other news, Dynamo Kiev suffered their first defeat of the season today, losing 3-0 at home to Shakhtar Donetsk.
  16. Did his best impression of a certain Serbian today. Babaslav Ivanovic.
  17. Someone needs to go to the Hawthorns and find Pedro...
  18. A win is a win. Will take that any day. But the performance didn't really inspire any confidence (it was Aston Villa FFS!). We did what we had to do to get the 3 points but can't conclude much otherwise. We still look extremely average and really need to improve big time, especially with some tough games coming up - Dynamo Kiev, West Ham, Stoke, Liverpool.
  19. New week, same old rubbish performance. At least we're consistent though. Consistently shit.

  22. Mourinho v Klopp in two weeks' time. The media will be wanking themselves over that one.
  23. Aina definitely won't start but Mourinho did at least suggest he could, which is the opposite to what he said regarding Baba Rahman.
