Have to say though, United's defending for the goal was laughable. Smalling got pulled away by Bakayoko's run, which I guess it's normal to track a runner but Jones stepped out and did nothing while Bailly was caught ball watching.

But today mean more given United are better than Bournemouth. IIRC, all but 2 of his goals are headers. Really needs to sort out that feet of his.

Agree. Today showed his potential and what he can do for us. Just needs to work on his composure and final ball. Could had easily gotten a few goals/assists today.

Think saying they sat back for most of the game doesn't do our performance any justice. They had their moments to go forward, before the last 5-10 minutes onslaught, but we just didn't allow them to. We were winning the 50-50s, pressing them, winning individual battles, showing plenty of movement to drag them about etc. It wasn't anything like the FA Cup game last season.

That was more like it! Excellent performance from everybody. Only criticism is our failure to put away those guilt edge chances! Could and should have been at least another 4-0 win.

That has happened only because they were leading 1-0 going into the final stages of the game and opposition opened up to chase the equalizer, which obviously in turn left themselves to be picked apart on the break. IF we can keep things tight and don't make any stupid mistakes, then we will have a chance of getting a result tomorrow. Taking the lead first will certainly help.

Unless there has been a total meltdown in the relationship between Conte and Roman or the players, I don't see why we would sack him if we lost tomorrow. Scolari and especially AVB and Mourinho survived till March and December respectively when they managed a much worse season than Conte right now.

We need to sign Christian Pulisic. Has pace, trickery, directness, eye for goal and the potential to be one of the best.

Morata has hardly been great for the past month and yet he has been selected for Spain. So what’s up with that? Given Spain are just playing friendlies and not WC qualifiers, I would hardly read too much into Azpi’s exclusion. Yes, he hasn’t been great but this is normally the time for the already qualified nations to test out some other players. Plus, I wouldn’t complain about our players not getting called up for international duty. Less risk of injury and fatigue and more time to rest and recuperate.
