  1. Please, do explain how we don't give managers time to turn things around. It's such an overplayed, lazy cliche. Do you realize that Conte is still in the job despite all the mess in 2018?
  2. Emerson has 2 assists in 4 games in all competitions (1 in the league). Alonso has 7 in all competitions since joining us (5 in the league - 2 this season).
  3. Giroud's attempt to go for the scorpion goal again before the goal was though.
  4. Southampton 0-2 Chelsea PRE/POST-MATCH DISCUSSION, LIVE CHAT AND ANALYSIS 2017/18 FA Cup Semi-Final 22nd April, Sunday, 2018 Wembley Stadium 15:00 Kick Off (UK time)
  5. If you compare with his previous games, then yes, he looked decent. Was just glad he didn't mess anything up, like he did at Watford. Overall though, don't think he contributed anything meaningful in the game.
  6. Really good, solid performance in his first league start tonight. Solid defensively and dangerous in attack. Liked the way he delivers the crosses into the box. Conte needs to be questioned on why he hasn't played more this season!
  7. OKAY, I cannot defend Morata for that awful 1-on-1 miss - or the previous ones for that matter - but that aside, thought his performance was decent. Not great by any means but showed flashes he could flourish up top with another striker. On the larger point though, fans would obviously focus on that miss and call for him to be sold (again) but think that would be a mistake if we did so this summer. It's a cliche by now but have we not seen what happened with De Bruyne, Salah? Pedro is an example too. Okay, he's not WOW or anything but he struggled in 2015/16 - his first season in England - when we decided to be shit and became a vital player in 2016/17 when we were great and contributed to our title success. It's a similar situation with Morata now. Has he been great? Nope but he has shown what he can do this season, especially in the first half - his performances against United and Atletico in particular were excellent. Can he do better? No doubt about it - both in terms of his all round play and consistency. There is a good, solid striker in there. Just needs to be 'brought' out. Plus, I'd also argue that the striker role he's asked to play doesn't maximize his strengths. He's essentially been deployed like a target man, to play like Costa, Drogba and that's not his strengths. If he's still performing in this manner this time next season, then I don't think I would object selling him but we have far bigger problems in the squad to worry about at the moment than replacing Morata.
  8. 1. FIRST back-to-back wins in all competitions in 2018! Not a great performance but did enough to beat a surprisingly flat Burnley side. 2. Conte has had far too many touchline mood swings in 2018. One game he looks as if he can't wait to be sacked and the next, he looks like his usual, animated, frenetic self. 3. Not sure what prompted him to do so but fair play to Conte for actually playing 2 strikers UP TOP today. The partnership still needs work obviously but the Giroud-Morata combo look decent. The former focuses on holding up the play, doing the link-up while the latter focuses on getting in behind and at the end of chances (OMG!). 4. Kudos to Emerson for a very solid performance in his first league start. Quick, mobile (OMG YES!), defensively sound and looked dangerous going forward. What I liked most about his performance is his ability to whip balls into the space behind the Burnley defence/space between their defence and keeper - far more dangerous. Absolutely sicked and tired of us constantly crossing balls into the opposition player or high into the box where there is a chance an opposition player could win it. 5. THAT Morata miss... 6. What is the point of Bakayoko?
  9. Scenes when Conte plays Zappacosta or Azpi at LWB instead of Emerson...
  10. Let's just say Spurs shouldn't and wouldn't be in the top 4 now if we hadn't fucked things up after Christmas, never mind not winning the recent games.
  11. But at the end of the day, it's still different. Anyway, I didn't even mean to insinuate anything about Hazard. I genuinely missed that part of Thor's sentence. Can't help if people feel sensitive about Hazard all the time... Assumptions? More like observations of his individual performances. Hasn't always played 100% when he could and should have, even if the team's performances overall have been bad.
  12. Really? If we look at the stats - from January till May 2013 - Mata contributed 6 goals and 19 assists (5 goals and 14 assists in PL + Europa League) while Hazard contributed 7 goals and 9 assists (6 goals and 7 assists in PL + Europa League). I know you aren't exactly fond of Mata but you're over-exaggerating when you said Hazard delivered the goods to get us top four and Europa League. He did contribute to some important goals, notably the equalizer against Sparta Prague and two assists at Aston Villa but in no way he was as influential as you made him out to be that season.
  13. To be fair, he's played under a clueless Moyes, Van Gaal and a defensive Mourinho. Hardly the right managers to use him effectively, although Mourinho has used to decent effect when it comes to scoring goals, including some crucial ones at times. I don't disagree with that but if he can produce the goods on a consistent basis, then why not? It's not like quicker or more dynamic players have always succeeded in the CAM role.
  14. That's rather ironic. We moaned so much about Mourinho's negative football and wanted more positive football but here you are, making it sound like it was great and all. I mean sure, we did win the Premier League and League Cup under him but the football was largely forgettable barring the first half of 2014/15 and some games in 2013/14. Had we appointed a manager who plays attacking football rather than Mourinho back in 2013, Mata would have likely been part of that setup.
  15. Not surprised by the decision but when you see some of the incidents - some even worse than this - the FA have allowed to slip by in the past, then this really is a farce.
