As much as we want Rudiger and Kante back, all their injuries of late have been because we rushed them back too early. Lampard has already alluded to it. Would rather take it slow and steady and make sure they're back fit for when things get crazy in December. Also, Mourinho once said it only takes him 5 minutes to tell whether a young player is good or not. So, yeah...

How many times do I have to keep on saying that playing a big team and playing a big game are two different things here? In the context of the League Cup, was yesterday's game against United a big game? No. But was it against a big team? Yes. In the context of the Champions League and our situation in the group, was the game at Ajax a big game? Yes. Was it against a big team? No.

Lampard just doesn't fancy Giroud it seems and with Batshuayi, think yesterday's performance showed why he hasn't been starting games really. Looked poor throughout the game and no different to his cameo starts under previous managers. It highlights our lack of backup option for him. Our midfield last night provided ZERO attacking runs. All 3 wanted ball at their feet and no one was making the runs. All left to Pulisic, CHO, Batshuayi trying to make something happen against United's mass defence.

Wrong choice of words? Of course I meant NOW. Why would I bother talking about what they did in the past? When we talk about being the best, challenging the best, we measure ourselves against the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Man City etc these days, no? With all due respect to Ajax, they are historically a big club but in these modern days, they are not. They are just a tier below the ones I've mentioned.
