But did it have to be so restrictive till the point our football was dreadful, boring to watch? Was only when Loftus-Cheek and Hudson-Odoi came in that we got slightly more entertaining because they provided something different from all the silly, endless passing.
-
Let's face it, Sarri's system was just painfully restrictive. Players can only do A, B, C but can't do D, E, F. Under Lampard, the players seem to have the license to express themselves and we're also playing a lot quicker than before, hence we're seeing the players enjoying themselves out there (although some times too much!).

I was surprised to see Kalou had scored a perfect hat-trick as well Did it in that 7-0 win over Stoke in 2010. Had 2 perfect PL hat-tricks in that 09/10 season!

Rudiger and Kante are still out injured. Lampard hinted that players who haven't played much lately will be involved.

Pulisic might not be physically strong but being weak defensively at that is one thing, being weak tactically is another and the latter doesn't apply to him. As I said before, if Pulisic was going out of position and doing his own thing, we would have seen Lampard telling him off during the game but that didn't happen. And anyone who's watched us this season will know our players have the creative freedom in attack without jeopardizing the team balance.
-
Yeah but the writer argued that he shouldn't have been in the central position to force those turnovers because he was meant to be play at LW. 🤷♂️
-
Might argue that we were a bit crap during that period too. Looking back, wouldn't trade that sole win for any of the losses!

Solskjaer hinted that a number of United young players could start/play in this one... https://www.manutd.com/en/news/detail/manchester-united-team-news-for-chelsea-in-the-carabao-cup?utm_campaign=ManUtd&utm_medium=post&utm_source=twitter

Saw this on another forum. Pulisic is the 18th player to score a hat-trick in the Roman Abramovich era: Didier Drogba = 4 Frank Lampard = 4 Nicholas Anelka = 2 Eden Hazard = 2 Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink = 1 Eidur Gudjohnson = 1 Salomon Kalou = 1 Fernando Torres = 1 Samuel Eto'o = 1 Andre Schurrle = 1 Diego Costa = 1 Oscar = 1 Michy Batshuayi = 1 Alvaro Morata = 1 Ruben Loftus-Cheek = 1 Olivier Giroud = 1 Tammy Abraham = 1 Christian Pulisic = 1

In general, not sure how much I'd care about the result here but it would be great to beat United. We haven't beaten Solskjaer's United in 3 attempts! Fail to do so again and this would enter the Conte v Wenger territory. Also, for all of United's problems under Solskjaer, they actually have a decent record against the PL Big 6 in all competitions - P10 W4 D4 L2.

As you may have seen from the headline, the writer basically said Pulisic shouldn't have scored his first two goals because he started at LW. He questioned whether Pulisic ignored Lampard's orders and drifted infield - since his first two goals originated from central position - or Lampard simply gave him the creative freedom to roam from the left side - the writer certainly tried to imply the former, for whatever reason.

Frank Lampard's Chelsea are the real deal - this honeymoon period should not fade like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2019/10/29/frank-lampards-chelsea-real-deal-honeymoon-period-should-not/
-
Said it before, it is really sad that he's let his career drift into nothingness. Has done nothing of note since leaving us.
-
It's silly, isn't it? If Pulisic was ignoring instructions and drifting elsewhere, we would have seen Lampard berating him to get back into position. And furthermore as you said, anyone who has watched us this season will know whoever has been playing at the left side is tasked/allowed to drift infield whenever possible, so that Alonso/Emerson can overlap - certainly more so than our right side.
-
Was going to quote you on that yesterday but I also said the same thing.
-
Barkley might be available. Lampard said he's "is out, not majorly out, just out, so hopefully fit for next week" pre-Burnley last Friday. https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/2019/10/25/chelsea-injury-news-burnley-away We should know more about the injuries etc tomorrow when Lampard holds his presser at 1:30pm UK time.

Andy Gray isn't wrong to question how we would react when things aren't going well for us in games, especially in the big ones and we've played only a few of them so far but at the same time, it's almost as if they didn't watch us play against United and Liverpool (twice). Yes, we did not win any of them but we didn't wave the white flag in those games and if anything, we should have won them!
-
Media: Why isn't Pulisic playing? *Pulisic scores a hat-trick* Also the media: Was Pulisic lucky to score? Did Pulisic abandon post?
-
Yeah. Was just saying. 🤷♂️
-
Where did I imply that? Was more about United than the other two.
-
So, United made their worst start in 30 years (or something) and they're ahead of Spurs in the table and just 3 points behind Arsenal.
