Klopp has never taken the domestic cups seriously. Emery has always played a mixed XI in the cups. And TBF, we did play a strong team in every cup game last season under Sarri.

They played Partizan Belgrade, not Viktoria Plzen, if that is what you thought. United have largely played the same core XI with few changes here and there from game to game. They played a strong team against us because it was us, a big team. If Lewandowski continues performing/scoring like he is doing this season, then that is debatable..at least for next summer.

That's the issue here, this season. I know he's only 19 but he's done well in only one season so far - his Champions League goals have certainly propelled him to global attention. What if he regresses to the mean next season? What if he turns out to be a one season wonder? Between him and Werner, I'd rather take Werner, who is playing in a better league than the Austrian league and has proven he's not a flash in the pan with his goalscoring record.

On paper at least, they do have decent players as backups. But really though, what choice do they have? They aren't going to suddenly throw a team of young players in - they probably aren't ready or good enough - and Solskjaer playing a strong team in every competition is not sustainable (e.g. Lindelof picked up an injury against us and then aggravated it at Bournemouth, McTominay suffered an injury yesterday and is now a doubt for the weekend). Last night's result aside, they have been scraping past teams by the odd goal in the cups as well.

Is Haaland really the real deal? Gotta be cautious about buying one-season wonders.

How un-athletic are you talking about here? Because someone like Matic, for example, would struggle badly with Lampard is trying to implement in this team.
